So how are these quarantines enforced? Do we make internment camps around the welcome centers?

EvilEgg: So how are these quarantines enforced? Do we make internment camps around the welcome centers?

FTFA:

The question on many people's minds now is, how will this be enforced?

The three governors are relying on people to report others who violate the quarantine.

On ABC's Good Morning America last week, Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont described the approach his state is taking.

"What we're going to do is go to every travel agent and say, 'From these regions don't come to Connecticut unless you get tested first or know you have to quarantine,'" said Lamont. "We're going to go to all the hotels, every single site there, let people know from those states you have to quarantine if you come to Connecticut."

Lamont said the state is stopping short of imposing fines for violations, but will ramp up penalties if necessary.

If you're caught in violation in New York, on the other hand, you will face mandatory quarantine and thousands of dollars in fines.

Individuals who are traveling to New York, New Jersey or Connecticut from impacted states for business are exempt.

Because of course they are.  Only commoners spread viruses after all.

Stay the fark out.

We crushed the curve and dropped our R number to less than one. We did what we were suppose to. We pulled together and sacrificed for the common good. Two. Months. You all just had to stay in for two months. Get your groceries delivered, learn to cook, read a book or two, catch up on tv and sit with your thoughts or spend time with your families.  But you all wanted hair cuts and to go to restaurants and bars and wanted to congregate because you're all entitled.  You couldn't deal with being told what to do for once in your miserable oppositionalitly defiant lives.

You all should have followed our example, but instead you farked the country.*

I hope that the residents tell all of the people coming in to quarantine. My wife and I have rarely left our home for almost 4 months now....a lot of people in CT and the surrounding areas are in the same boat. We don't want to fark this up.

Two months? We started quarantining March 11th. We are close to the 4 month mark.

The public places I have been since that time:

Grocery store (doing pickup now)
Pet food store
Vet's office, not allowed to go in
Music store, once, and even that freaked me out.  I'm pretty sure the guy lurking in a side room was waiting for me to leave so he could spray down the pianos I touched.

I'm doing my part, but gotdamn I want to play-test some new instruments so badly.  I finally have time to play and money to get a better one, but noooooo.  Thanks, Mask Mongoloids.  God knows how long I'll have to wait to fondle Yamahas and Yanagisawas like the dinner and movie went really, really well.

That sounded less creepy in my head.

Four months, and no end in sight.  I don't think I even remember how to people anymore.

PA should be adding farkers to the no fly list too, but considering the dopes in the state houses openly calling for resignation of Gov. Wolf over the staggard reopening scheme despite being making us one of the 4 best case scenarios, it's a tough sell.

I haven't been in a store to shop since March 16.

Gonna Make the assumption of JerseySteve being in Jersey.
Seems more like Jersey got their R down now because everybody and their mother caught it and the most vulnerable died. Currently 11.6% of Covid deaths, 6.5% of Covid cases, and  2.7% of the US population.

It came back negative. I look at it as better that way because we don't really understand how long the blood vessel damage lasts yet, although it would have been nice to go out and not worry so much.

Curbside is the best thing to come out of this rotten mess...unfortunately most places are starting to phase it it now.

When I take the cars out to run the batteries, people seem to be more aggressive driving so I can imagine what they're like in the stores now. The stores really need to keep enforcing the mask wearing , it'll be too late if they wait for cases to start rising again

There's a pretty good chance if someone told me they were coming back from a hotspot and were walking around unmasked that I'd stroll back into my apartment, grab the laundry plunger we've been using to hand wash clothes since late February, come back, and bludgeon them with it.

Saying it was a far more flawed response by the state than you make it seem. NJ got hit third hardest so far.
Staying at home and masks are the right solution. Probably only would have needed 4-6 weeks only if every damn state did it and did it properly at the same time, instead of the BS that went down where certain states became viral reservoirs. Now because dumbasses most stay at home is going to only be good for keeping hospitals from totally being overwhelmed early on. Worried about what's coming but at least people and hospitals are a bit better supplied, no thanks to the Fed.

For those saying it's unenforceable, it's actually not that hard.

1. Commandeer a bunch of hotels along the state border (pay for the hotel rooms of course, just force them to be used for this).
2. Put checkpoints on every road going in.
3. Stop everyone with a license plate from one of the offending states.
4. Inform the people in those cars that they will be housed in one of these hotels, at state expense, food and such included, for 2 weeks (or whatever current guidelines are for effective quarantine, might be 3 or 4).
5. Drivers get a choice: Accept the quarantine, or GTFO.

This won't catch everyone, but it'll get the overwhelming majority, and as the goal isn't to have 0 cases until we get a vaccine (because it's simply not feasible at this point), this will keep the curve flat, and low.
