"I think that it is up to us as citizens to decide if we want to go out and take a chance of getting it, if we want to wear a mask or not,"

This sentence took him much longer to actually say than it appears because he is so stupid he has to physically remind himself to breathe.

OdradekRex: These idiots are actively killing people.

DeWine's approval rating is 75-80%.  These morons are a serious minority.  How the f*ck are we letting 10-25% of the population threaten, control, and rule the rest?  I normally think the Dems have no spines, but damn do Republicans lose their spines the minute three of their voters get together and protest or threaten to not vote for them.

DeWine has held virtually every elective office in the state.  State rep, state senator, US rep, US senator, governor, attorney general.  He has no farks left to give.

My response would be: "the actual viral impact has been minimal to the vast majority our citizens" - which is a nice quote from that very poorly written letter.

All a "moderate" Republican needs to do to get them in line is use the reverse Bulworth strategy. "What are you going to do, vote for a Democrat?" Right wingers make a lot of noise and parade and stomp around, but they are essentially a bunch of cowards at heart - which for the life of me, I don't know why Democrats don't attack R's on that basis, rather than just on their evilness.

This is a good summary of the mask "controversy" in Ohio. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1277982863154184198.html?refreshed=yes

Basically, once DeWine backed down and capitulated to the crybabies, they smelled blood in the water, and have constantly attacked him daily since then.

Anecdotally, I live in a liberal part of Ohio and work in a conservative one. I went to the grocery store in the conservative part on Friday and saw one person other than me wearing a mask.

They've been slightly pissed at him ever since he agreed to a slight tax hike on gas way before the pandemic hit. These farkwits just pumped it up when he said "Maybe we should be cautious". At the start, I applauded DeWine's choices but he's listening to his AG Yost, a Christian dominionist Tea Party holdover, and he's just trying to woo the crazies back.

I miss Dr. Acton. I know there are some places in this state that aren't right-wing, and I've only been here for five years, but goddamn if I'm not in the derpiest of right-wing Cincinnati 'burbs. Can't wait until we can move a bit closer to where my wife works.

I live North of the city and put out signs for a Representative that no longer represents them because of gerrymandering. Yet every two years they roll out Chabot signs. Yet were stuck voting for Chinstrap.

I live in a small town in Ohio so basically (aside from my family) a conservative part, and work in a very liberal part. I can confirm that this is completely accurate. The two closest cities for me to get groceries have polar opposite percentages for mask wearing. I tend to head to the more liberal city where probably 70-80% wear masks. I also go there so I don't get cussed out in the other city for wearing a mask.

Three generations of us were born in the same Akron hospital. Lived in Akron on and off with my grandparents when my mom was running away from abusive dad. You know Patterson Park? Just down the street from there. Good memories. Unfortunately my mom fell in with the derps. Started with Killary and got worse. She had a few of what we call crazy cousins that sucked her into it and now I don't know if there's any coming back. She's been quiet since the latest hoo-haw about the bounties though. Wonder how that is parsing. It's just so sad to see. All she knows are buzz words. In our family text thread she came in whining about the statues and out of the blue typed out law and order. Before that it was a statement about all the learned knowledge she got from reading up on the antifa constitution. Really? These people are hopelessly lost. Her parents recently passed and she's been cleaning out the old house. She had the opportunity to move west where her three kids are located (two of us in Salt Lake) and where most of her grandkids live but she chose to buy another house in Akron and stay there. Don't blame her since that was her home growing up but she's really only close to her crazy cousins there. My theory is that was her desire to stay nearby the moral support of the hive mind.

Three.

North Ohio, SE Ohio, SW Ohio (or give SE to WV and SW to KY). There's a pretty big split between the Ohio River Valley in SE and the Seven Hills in Cincinnati.

Sounds like my experience.  Live in a liberal part, work in a conservative part.   I stopped once to grab a cup of gas station coffee before work.   I was wearing a mask.  The employees were wearing a mask.  No one else.

I make sure to make coffee at home now before I leave.   Though there were a number of people not wearing masks at my neighborhood grocery store yesterday.

Haven't done anything of worth to try to convince people to wear masks, my attempts aren't good enough to convince people, and my lack of ability to convince people to wear a mask or take precautions is going to cause people to get sick and die, while I just sit around and do nothing of worth.

I visited my parents this weekend up on Lake Erie. While a good 75% of  people wear masks in the columbus area, barely any of the tourists did up there. If you saw someone masked, 9 times out of 10 they were a local and an understandably scared shiatless one at that too. I was told Put-In-Bay is insane. Packed like normal, barely anyone social distancing.

I just found out yesterday morning my nephew here in columbus itested positive for covid. Works in a hospital cleaning up the rooms and such so it's fairly easy to figure out how he contracted it.

Imaginativescreenname: I visited my parents this weekend up on Lake Erie. And there now is a coronavirus cluster from partying on the islands in the news.
