"Craven and upsetting" sounds like a review from an overly-dramatic theater critic.

yeah not the greatest sald i have ever seen nor the worst.   The lack of dressing doesn't  bother as likely it being head off being added to the last moment or to  let people choose their own personal preference.

Shut up or I'll put raisins in your salad.

I've been surprised by weird combos before.  I put smoked salmon and tabasco on my caesar salad.  It's incredible.

People put sweet things in salads all the time I'm not sure what the issue is.  It doesn't look great but it's hardly unusual.

The entire show is fantastic & worth watching but this scene stands out.  Their trip to Munich was pretty damn good too.

I enjoyed how Shatner always acted like the others were dumb for interacting with fans but was also butthurt that Henry Winkler had more fans approaching him.

Nope, not just you.  Ham, provolone, bread & butter pickles, and a little mayo was my regular lunch through undergrad.  (before I had problems with dairy).

Isn't that just a Cuban sandwich?

A Cubano usually has dill pickles.  And slow cooked pork and mustard, usually on a roll of some sort (or baguette) ... and then cooked while squished (like a panini)

And I don't get why people are freaking out about grapes on a salad.  If you get real tomatoes (not the ones from the grocery store), many of the cherry and grape varieties are approaching the sweetness of other berries.  And there are even some varieties that are green when ripe, if you really want to confuse people.

I made about seventy pints of sweet pickles last fall and put jalapeños and habaneros in every jar as well as red pepper flakes and red pepper in every jar.  They are on almost every ham and cheese sandwich I've made since.

i used to work overnights in a data center with a.. well, I'd say lady but i can't call her that as she'd burp and hack and cough, spit in the trash can; generally both treat her body like, and act like a garbage disposal.

she would eat these salads that were a few slices of iceberg, a pile of tomatoes and a pile of onions, covered in what appeared to be a half gallon of hidden valley ranch.  the stench was atrocious.

Seem to remember her talking about how she liked Tourney cigarettes and natural ice because it was cheap, too.   between the former and latter habits, I hated it when she would fall into my schedule.

Umm, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and ranch dressing stench is "atrocious?" What a delicate, hothouse, snowflake you must be.

Fresh onions are disgusting.

I make a weird salad myself: jalepeños and apples pickled together, radishes, carrots, romaine, a little cheddar, some bacon, and some chicken. Cherry tomatoes on the side.  And croutons or those fried jalepeño crisps.

Occasionally cucumbers.

as a kid I had a serious hate-on for bread'n'butter pickles. now? not so much, I'll happily eat sweet pickles on a cheese plate / ploughman's lunch / grilled cheese / what have you. still can't stand sweet relish though, but Branston pickle is a-ok. people are weird.

grapes don't sound too bad - I love sliced strawberries in certain salads (does need some strong contrast like feta) - an old friend from Portugal taught me One Weird Trick... freshly ground black pepper on the strawberries. it. is. effing. amazing.

Smackledorfer: Fresh onions are disgusting.

heresy! heretic!!! nah, s'cool.

I love onions in all formats, but sometimes if the ones I bought are just too stupidly strong, I'll slice super thin and put them in apple cider vinegar, leave it overnite en frigo, or at least for a couple hours, or mindestens as long as it takes me to prep dinner. also that vinegar then gets added to whatever salad dressing I was making, usually. bam?

that doesn't sound weird to me, it actually sounds pretty amazeballs. fried jalapeno crisps is a new one on me, awesome!

and, someone (or, more precisely, Percise1) in the recent kimchi thread also suggested the pickling of apples, so between that and your salad, now next time I'm making quick-pickles or mak'kimchi, I'ma totally do apples!

the new poke delivery place we've been trying does Doritos (lol!!!) corn and mango. there's some lettuce under there, I swear!

try sitting next to that with the stench of a thousand cheap cigarettes wafting off another human being & see how much you enjoy the smell.

any distinctive scent can become offensive from constant repetition- it's a real downside to working in person.  we've all been around the older lady wearing her Sunday go-to-meeting perfume; imagine that all shift, every day.  machines in a factory, or just a general grime- or a Mazzetti foods distribution center!  now that place reeked of dressing every day.  gag!

People throw raisins into salads all the time...

People throw red wine/balsamic vinegar into salads all the time...

I wonder what those are made from.
