So they're from southwest China, how long did it take them to get to Europe and the Americas?  Were chickens here before Columbus or Erikson?

You mean this creature's species was the originator of the chicken???? Wow... Couldn't believe my own eyes, but genetic analysis is genetic analysis.

There was a movie in which time travellers went back in time to the origin of chickens. It was called Bwock to the Future.

With uniform density.

Let me guess. They came from some species that existed a long, long time ago?

It's more like they narrowed it down from 5 birds that all kind of look like that

After reading all that, at least 3 chickens will die for my dinner tonight.

(I'm assuming a dozen wings kills 3, 4 pieces per...)

Not to mention a movie about street level drug dealing chickens. It was called Cluckers.

I know. Perhaps this one flies? Unless it does, I wouldn't be able to tell it apart from a chicken to save my life.

Close enough for a zeroth order approximation. Maybe even first order.

Baby chick wrangling is a tough business. Look how they cauterized that beak wound before the infection set in.

The real tragedy is when a farm hand gets pecked and a couple hours later their hair turns into fluffy yellow feathers. Then it's too late. By sunrise the next day, you can hear the popcorn noise from their bedroom. They will have exploded into a hundred little yellow baby chicks, perched on their skeleton.

wonder if china decide to do agriculture a few thousand year before the rest of the world ? the amount of foodstuff that originate from there is pretty insane.
also invented aquaculture 4000 years ago.
exemple bothOranges and Apples orignated in china.

Central America domesticated the turkey.  I don't think there were any pre-Columbian chickens.

Huh.  I thought Apples originated in Afghanistan.  Carrots did.  Tulips, maybe.  But you're right, in looking up the origins of a bunch of foods, the Tian Shan mountains kept coming up over and over.
