Watch out, Ryan. That crossroads demon doesn't simply forget the deals he makes.

I get that he's busy and all

But any person over 35 and can't settle ( & has never) into a lifetime relationship, yet keeps finding someone asap, there's a problem with them.

Sucks to be a C level model. Maybe if she gets a cover, she can upgrade to Kato Kaelin

THIS.  If somebody doesn't marry by the time they're forty, and is in any way attractive, they are a homosexual.

So I married later in life.  In my mid-thirties my mom called and wanted to make sure I was coming to Thanksgiving.  it went a little like this:
Are you bringing a date?
No mom
Why don't you bring a date
Because I am not dating anyone right now
You know.  Whoever you bring we will love them no matter who they are.
What?
I'm just saying, whoever you brought, if you loved them, we would love them too.
Mom I'm not gay
Sure you aren't...

I love how we're clinging onto these outdated ideas that anyone who hasn't thrown themselves into a lifelong relationship before they reach their forties has something wrong with them.

Because, after all, that's what marriages & relationships are for, to make sure your family & friends are comfortable around you.

I've never seen Seacrest in anything but I'm guessing he doesn't have any discernible talent. Joel McHale is at least funny. In Community anyway.

I contend that there's something wrong with people who get into debt (including buying a rock made from carbon mined by children) to marry someone because their locker happens to be next to theirs when there's a better than 50% chance it will end in divorce or at least a loveless marriage.

That sounds bitter but on the contrary I'm quite happy with my station in life and despite the opinions expressed here, I'm not gay. Although I'll admit that the aforementioned Joel McHale is a handsome man.

He hosts a bunch of shows on TV, but he is also the idiot that brought us the Kardashians.  He is the "producer" and has made him stupid rich.

The joke is that on Community, McHale's character Jeff Winger was occasionally called "discount Ryan Seacrest"

I was a late bloomer and played the hell out of the field (in a serial monogamist sort of way).  Happened to meet the perfect girl in my late thirties and literally started saving for a ring after our second date.  But if I hadn't met her, I would probably still be single now and attracted to men.  Really dodged a bullet.

I watch Live with Kelly and Ryan. He is constantly hitting on Mark Consuelos, refers to himself as not a man/manly or interested in man things, he admires the physique of every man who appears on the show, and that's just in the first 10 minutes. It's not unusual for him to fanboy over the male guests and make some sort of innuendo about if he and Shayna weren't together he'd be all over that.

Not wanting to get married isn't the red flag here, it's in the way he presents himself on a daily basis. If he is gay, it wouldn't change my opinion of him (not that it matters one way or another to begin with but this Fark after all).

I have always wanted people to be able to live their best lives as who they are.

Single, late 30's dude here.  my routine seems to be date someone for half a year, see the red flags (I seem to meet either women who are noncommittal to a relationship, or barely hidden alcoholics), then be completely single without any prospects for a year before I meet someone again.  I could have settled a long time ago, but am not interested in being with someone for the rest of my life unless its a real connection with love, friendship, shared pursuits and passion for each other.

I know its a lot to ask!

The sad thing is you and a couple others believed I was serious, and were justified in doing so.  That viewpoint is expressed here quite often.

Don't you think if he were gay he would take great pains to not make those kinds of comments?  Or maybe he's bi?  Or maybe, a la Charlie Crist, he just wants to fark anything that moves and not be committed, and not make a big deal about it?

In any event, I support what you're saying in terms of tolerance, there just seems to be this bizarre contradictory trend of voicing support for people being who they are, yet rushing to label anyone who doesn't fit the gender/sexual norms that we have.  Pretty much any well-dressed, slender (because only phegs like nice clothes, amirite?), good-looking man will be perceived as a closeted homosexual if he doesn't marry by his thirties.  Or earlier.  A girl who doesn't like typical girl shiat can't just be a tomboy, she must be lesbian or transgendered.  We're trending towards this weird nosy Neo-Victorianism that is hard for me to deal with.

And I'm not saying that you've voiced any of these opinions... but you've been influenced by them.

/slender, well-dressed, formerly good-looking man.

Obviously, he owes no one an explanation for anything about his romantic life. I wouldn't have given it a single thought if I hadn't noticed the behavior ramping up in the last year or so. Again, not that my opinion matters -- I'm a stupidly romantic person and believe relationships treated as business deals are always a disservice to both parties involved. I want nothing more than for people to be honest and live their lives as they see fit as long as all parties are getting the whole story. Does that make sense? Maybe not.

Let me rephrase -- if a person is stringing along another person to protect their sexual identity, I feel really bad for the person being strung along. It's a double no-win because the person protecting their identity can't be themselves and the one being used to protect the identity of that person doesn't have all the cards to play their hand fairly.

Oh and what is a pheg? *tilts head*
