Fark him.  COVID-19 spread is still growing and businesses where people are intentionally brought to heavy breathing and the use of shared equipment in confined spaces should be closed.  His business pretty much the definition of nonessential too, people can exercise without using indoor gyms.

"You can't do this! I have to be a gym in 26 minutes!"

Hatten says that Mountainside Fitness has invited club members to wear masks if they so choose.

And you wonder why Arizona is a Covid hot zone.  Maybe if you and other businesses had required masks, no matter what your idiot governor did or didn't do, you wouldn't be in this mess.  Thankfully masks are state mandated where I live, but if they weren't there would be no way in hell I'd step foot in a business that didn't require them.

Mask mandates won't help.

I'm in Oregon, and our governor mandated masks in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties, then to the entire state. And I swear, probably 75% of the people I see either have no mask, or they're wearing it over their mouth with their nose exposed.

And I am still running into people who maintain that this is not a pandemic, it's no worse than the flu, it's just the sniffles. It's some liberal plot to damage Traitor Trump.

We're getting exactly what we deserve in all of this.

Sounds like it's time for the counties to give their health departments more teeth.  Like the ability to close down businesses that do not insist on their patrons following the rules, and the ability to arrest repeat violators.

I'm not sure why people expect a global pandemic to be unicorns and rainbows.

It's suffering and death. If you're just suffering (economically), then you're getting off easy.

Yeah, yeah:it sucks that you have to be closed.  You're losing money!  You had to lay off your workers! Your creditors still want payment.  Mister, if you wanted a guaranteed return on your investment, you should have put your money in t-bills.  But you wanted more.  More reward=more risks, both seen and unforeseen.  What's that?  You went the gym route because you had a calling?  Because you wanted to make people's lives better?  Because you cared about their health?

I'll just let you think that over for a bit, you greedy bastard.  And here's for our government:. If you helped the people, not businesses, you'd still have people (consumers, if it helps you to frame this) at the end of this--if you continue to insist on helping businesses at the expense of people, you'll end up with neither people or businesses.  Go read "the goose laid the golden eggs" again.

Dude's a moron but the state should try and help out these types of businesses. Rent relief.  Pay part of the employee salaries.

Like we do in Canada.  It's really the only way that a lot of small/medium sized businesses are making it on the other side of this thing.

That's not the American way, though.  Unless a group of people is getting screwed somehow, it's not worth doing

I don't give a fark about these kinds of businesses. If our nation can't survive without salons, gyms, bars and restaurants then we haven't built it very well.

Asking citizens to literally risk their lives to go to a salon because our economy depends is a sentence so stupid that it hurts.

Burn it down and build something that makes sense on the ashes.

Arizona, and likely this guy personally, helped elect Trump so it's really their own fault for hamstringing the government aid they need now.

Governor Douchebag is not a Democrat.  He reopened the state at the same time they were going to start distributing unemployment assistance to those impacted by COVID19, then left it open for 6 weeks while new cases skyrocketed because Trump kept flying to the state for rallies and photo ops.

The oldest fitness club in Arizona is only 29?  My family has operated a fitness club for almost 50 years now and the first week of covid lockdown we sent our employees home with a full paycheck, which we've continued to pay for the last 3 months, while suspending billing for all of our members.  Our employees responded by donating their time in our name to various local assistance programs and also making daily content exercise streams for our members.  Our members have given back to the community many times as much as they saved from our payment freeze, and pledged lifetime memberships in record numbers as a result of our sensible and humane actions, which really didn't cost us much at all.  We got loan assistance from the federal and local governments and tax deferrals as well, so yeah, all in all we had enough money to not be dicks about this and as a result gained a reputational windfall that will keep us in business for the next 40 years.

On the other side of the ledger is Town Sports Clubs (BSC, NYSC, etc), who took assistance money, but fired their entire staff anyway.  They also tried to collect a full months worth of fees while they were closed, and got such a negative shiatstorm for their actions that I believe they were exploring bancruptcy after getting multiple AGs leading criminal fraud charges against them.  Morons.  Landlords/employers don't have to be such Scrooges, there's a wealth of satisfaction, and actual wealth, for being pro-community.

My wife went to a grocery store 8n Maricopa County yesterday. Signs outside said that masks were required inside due to a county order. Everyone is wearing masks.

Until a woman walks in and isn't.

A store employee walks over and says something softly. The woman screams at the top of her lungs NO I DON'T HAVE TO!

The guy walks away, she walks around spewing hate and spit.

The problem is if you are working out, you really shouldn't wear a mask for your own safety.  Reducing airflow + strenuous exercise = bad.
