Better: Congress sends Biden a bill that gives health care to all Americans. He signs it.

Whatever the side effects for the few, they are almost certainly going to be better than getting C19.

That's like asking someone if they would accept a job at Walmart.

I might. I might not. I need details. Cashier...I would probably decline. Senior level executive, of course.

Asking me if I would get a vaccine for X or not is equally meaningless. How effective is it, what are the side effects, and how common are those side effects?

The only sane answer right now is 'maybe' but most of us have been brainwashed to worker think vaccines are perfect, or vaccines are evil.

And before anyone calls me anti-vax... Please realize that even if you have gotten your recommended vaccinations, you still haven't gotten countless other vaccines that are available. You/your doctor doesn't bother with them because the risks outweigh the benefits.

Heck, last I heard the medical committee hasn't even decided how long it takes before you can get reinfected, or even if you can get reinfected.

You know what? You get a Smart for that. I made the assumption of safe/effective, but who knows what we'll actually get.

That being said, I will still take what we get. C-19 will likely kill me if I get it, so some side effects are OK in my book.

It's currently closed through at least July 21, and I can't imagine it'll be opened up at that time.  Really, it's looking like it'll be closed until either the US gets things under control, or an effective vaccine is developed.  Probably the latter.

I don't think the death curve is apt to follow positive case curve like it did earlier. The age range where death is a common outcome is not rising in the hot spot sections of the country. In Florida's curves (see the NYTimes daily charts), cases have been rising since June 1, while deaths have been steady. Florida's newly infected are primarily in the 20-40 age range, so far, and they don't die anywhere near as commonly as the 60+ crowd. If the young people spread it to nursing homes a lot more, which is certainly possible, that's when deaths will suddenly skyrocket.

Those charts tell me something else.

There's at least a 2-week lag from infected to dead. Prior to the middle of June, both cases and deaths were dropping steadily. Cases started shooting up in the middle of June, but the last dead person on the chart likely contracted the virus (became a new case) in the middle of June.

Now, I don't think we'll see the same rise in deaths (younger people do have a better survival rate)... but I'm betting we'll see a jump in deaths over the next week followed by a bigger jump over the second week of July.

Yet cases per day are on a pretty steady increase. What do you think that does to the deaths per day two or three weeks from now?

Fine. Then those who refuse to be vaccinated for non-medical reasons can be restricted to their homes and fired from their jobs. If they refuse to be socially responsible then we have to use other means to restrict their ability to spread disease.

90% would fold within a week.

And while we are at it, lets make the flu vaccine free for all and required unless there is a health reason. And then how about a free Shingles vaccine?  It is damn expensive.  More people would take it if it was not so farking expensive.

Here's my issue. I have vaccinated for everything I need. I get my yearly flu shot. My kids are up to date. I don't want to be in the first round, and call me crazy but ant vaccine that comes from trump and his cronies is suspect to me.

Unless the first round of vaccine is coming out of Europe, I may wait some months

if it's out of China or Russia I do not want it

I wouldn't buy one of their cars either

not even in the third year of their model run

not terribly Keen on an American version either

Euro or South Korea otherwise I'm probably waiting a beat or two

Almost 20000 new cases at the end of last week in Fla. That may result in an addition 500 to 1000 deaths. Add that to the current rate/day and it's going to start spiking again. Especially if that volume of new cases continues.

Can I sign up to vaccinate people using a dart rifle from a helicopter? Because that would be bad ass. Right up until I died in a hail of gunfire about an hour into the job.

Honest to God, we're probably better off as a society now if we just untied the United States and somehow orchestrated a peaceful, Indian-Pakistani style migration that allowed people to relocate to designated liberal or conservative states before the break-up became official.  The stupid in this country is far too set in to be eradicated, and we're better off allowing the smart to separate themselves from the stupid.
