TotallyRealNotFake: I'm  seriously hoping the Government keeps the US - Can boarder closed.

Americans have proven they can not be adults and fight a deadly virus the good of Humanity.

Seriously hope the rest of the bloody planet does it as well. "Worlds biggest leper colony" as was foretold in V for Vendetta.

T Baggins: gregz18: wichitaleaf: Deaths per day are on a pretty steady decline.

And the positive cases are on a pretty steady increase.  Which means that the deaths per day will be increasing, too - in about 10-14 days.

Did you forget March and April?

I don't think the death curve is apt to follow positive case curve like it did earlier. The age range where death is a common outcome is not rising in the hot spot sections of the country. In Florida's curves (see the NYTimes daily charts), cases have been rising since June 1, while deaths have been steady. Florida's newly infected are primarily in the 20-40 age range, so far, and they don't die anywhere near as commonly as the 60+ crowd. If the young people spread it to nursing homes a lot more, which is certainly possible, that's when deaths will suddenly skyrocket.

Those charts tell me something else.

There's at least a 2-week lag from infected to dead. Prior to the middle of June, both cases and deaths were dropping steadily. Cases started shooting up in the middle of June, but the last dead person on the chart likely contracted the virus (became a new case) in the middle of June.

Now, I don't think we'll see the same rise in deaths (younger people do have a better survival rate)... but I'm betting we'll see a jump in deaths over the next week followed by a bigger jump over the second week of July.

It's currently closed through at least July 21, and I can't imagine it'll be opened up at that time.  Really, it's looking like it'll be closed until either the US gets things under control, or an effective vaccine is developed.  Probably the latter.

I had a brief convo with someone up here in Canada, yesterday: "well, it looks like until the US can get their act together we're gonna continue to be in lockdown mode up here"

/reality: over 100,000 US citizens/day are still coming to Canada for one purpose or another.

Excelsior: Jgok: The results of the survey at the bottom...

"Will you opt for the coronavirus vaccine when one is available?"
Yes 72%
No 14%
Not sure 13%
Other / No opinion 1%

28% did not say "yes" when asked if they would get vaccinated against a global pandemic that has killed nearly 130,000 Americans (probably far more than that).

In the long run being anti-vax is a self-correcting problem.

/Lets see how many people magically drop their "deeply held beliefs" when the schools refuse entry for non-vaccinated students -- especially now people have experienced the reality of "just homeschool the kids"

No, its not "self-correcting" actually.
Not getting vaccinated ruins things for everyone. People get sick and infect others before they get better.

WEAR A MASK. SKIP THAT PARTY.

LISTEN TO YOUR HEALTH OFFICIALS AND EXPERTS.

Almost 20000 new cases at the end of last week in Fla. That may result in an addition 500 to 1000 deaths. Add that to the current rate/day and it's going to start spiking again. Especially if that volume of new cases continues.

Pretty sure Q is a fiction of collective insanity. I'm merely a legal legend of my own moral making. One's weird and wrong. I'm just weirdly right. Funny, that!

/and funding to ensure enough vaccination clinics exist to make that happen

Better: Congress sends Biden a bill that gives health care to all Americans. He signs it.

why not both?

I'd sell it to the public by telling them "We're gonna put a little mark on people when they get vaccinated. You won't be allowed in businesses, allowed in school, allowed to work, or allowed to buy anything unless you have this mark."

I bet that would convince the anti-vaxxers to cooperate.
