Company selling a legal product tries to make more money by marketing to idiots. Surely this is a novel evil strategy no one has ever tried before.

Marketing to domestic terrorists. This is exactly the kind of bad-faith undermining of our democratic system that we're going to need to figure out how to deal with soon if we want to preserve this country as a functioning republic.

I've heard this BS Civil War stuff off and on for a while. My favorite is a retired Delta Airlines pilot former military guy the most pasty closeted dude you ever met. I'm sure he's quite the internet tough guy out there somewhere. I think if threatened he would cry.

And yes,he's chinless.

Gun sales have always been about fear. There's never been a time in the last 50-100 years where gun sales weren't predicated on fear.

They're just finding who the most scared obnoxious tits are in the country and locating the nipple. Nothing they haven't done countless times before.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: There are like three responsible gun owners in the country. That's about it.

I have a Ruger 10-22 I bought just before Obama was elected.  .22LR ammo prices jumped so high, and are still so ridiculously high, that it still sits, new in box, in my padlocked closet.  Haven't even looked at it for 10+ years.  Someday, I may buy some overpriced ammo to go plink at paper targets at a range.  Maybe.

/or maybe I'll just sell it on
//via legal FFL transfer
///Dunno if a 10 round .22 mag on a carbine is even still legal in California

You bought a gun and never even fired it? Why'd you get it? Also, .22 was dirt cheap up until a few months ago.

I'm one. My guns are put away when not in use, the kids were trained on the concept of the guns when they were young, and told the dangers, as well as the fact that if they ever had questions, they could ask me, rather than play with them... And I meant any time. I told them if it was 4 am, they could wake me up and ask questions, not that they would, just so they'd truly understand that I meant what I said. And they didn't learn to shoot until they were old enough to safely control the .22 they started with. I'll kill someone to save someone else, but otherwise, the guns don't come out. I'm not going to pull the shiat that those morons in the mansion did, I wouldn't go to a protest armed, and I resent the kind of gun users who are this irresponsible.

And I'm not buying ammo from any of these companies. I'm probably done with buying guns, so that's not an issue, but I'm not buying shiat from any of the people in TFA.

I also don't need all of that shiat like body armor, since I don't plan on starting a civil war with my fellow Americans, so I'm good there, too.

But fark these assholes and their "We were just kidding!" bullshiat. I don't buy it for a second.

I've never voted for a Republican.  I own one gun, a Sig Sauer .45 for defense and target shooting. (used to have a 30/30 and a 30-06 but they weren't practical where I was living when I sold them)
I keep enough target/carry ammo around for it so I always have enough but I don't go nuts buying 10K rounds or whatever just because some goofs think a civil war is imminent.

Over the years I've pondered getting an AR-15 but meh, what for?
What I still can't justify but what I actually want* is a Barrett 82A1 or 107A1.  Again, not practical but would be loads of fun (at least for me) to target shoot with.

*What I "really truly actually want" is a Minigun but that's cost-prohibitive both in the acquiring and the regular BRRRRRRRRRRTness.

I'm a cheap bastard.  Used to get 20 round boxes of 30-30 and .308 for like $7.99.  Bricks of .22 were 1/10th the lowest price you can find now.  I'm not paying panic/fear premiums for hobby stuff, nope.

Sold via FFL my M1A, .357, and .45.  Only have the 30-30 Marlin lever action carbine with scope (a scope on a carbine?  it's funny, man)  (which I have shot at paper targets on the range many times) and that NIB 10-22.

Someday, ammo will be priced sanely.  And there may be a place to plink at paper targets safely.  Here in the East Bay, the Chabot gun club's lease was not renewed, so there's no place around here to safely fire FMJ (one of the reasons I gave up my M1A).  I think the Davis range is still operating every other lane, but only soft points allowed since the range trends towards the Oakland airport and the overhead doesn't stop FMJ.  Which isn't a problem for me now since the 30-30 with it's tubular magazine is obviously soft point only.

My stepson has a lever action Henry in .45 ACP. Amazing rifle, spot on, hitting clay pigeons on the hill from 50 yards away the first time I ever fired it. The only problem is that I feel like I have to swing the lever a freaking foot and a half every time I cycle the action. I don't know if that's something I could adjust or not, but it's the only thing that would keep me from buying one of my own, it's just easy as hell to shoot, and wonderfully accurate.

You gotta admit, that would be a kindof awesome way to spend $3,000 a minute to fire it.  Safely, at a range designed for it.  (part of that price is the Nitrogen cooling system for sustained fire without melting the barrels).

That Mossberg is too far tactical. This is going to be my first lever gun and I wanted something suitable for plinking so I went for a pistol calibre. They do make one in 45-70 and depending on how I like using a lever that might be next on the list I have the reloading dies ready so if I'm totally honest with myself I'll probably be buying a 45-70 before long anyway.

10-22 owner here... at least spent $10 and sight the damn thing in, clean it and put it away. You test drive a car, don't you?
And a 10-22 with the 10 round mag is perfectly legal in CA if you haven't modified it.
Get one of these as well, it is called "trimag" and bolts 3 mags together. You still have to swap every 10 rounds, but they are right there. I call them "squirrel nuts"...

If you haven't put a reflex sight or a laser on it, then you are just a poser... ;)

Don't worry the Picatinny rail is also on order this stuff is hard to track down in Canada I had to pay extra to import the rifle from the U.S.

Target Builder: doofusgumby: Target Builder: doofusgumby: I have a Ruger 10-22 I bought just before Obama was elected.  .22LR ammo prices jumped so high, and are still so ridiculously high, that it still sits, new in box, in my padlocked closet.

????

I'm a cheap bastard.  Used to get 20 round boxes of 30-30 and .308 for like $7.99.  Bricks of .22 were 1/10th the lowest price you can find now.  I'm not paying panic/fear premiums for hobby stuff, nope.

Sold via FFL my M1A, .357, and .45.  Only have the 30-30 Marlin lever action carbine with scope (a scope on a carbine?  it's funny, man)  (which I have shot at paper targets on the range many times) and that NIB 10-22.

How much is 22LR ammo in Cali?

IME if you're bargain buying on sales you can get 500 round boxes of 22LR for ~$20 and without sales or bulk buys it's in the region of $6 for a 50 round box for basic stuff to $10 for fancier stuff.

Can't find it anywhere in the bay area.  The usual "sports" stores don't carry it, the legit firearm stores been shut down.  Gotta travel outside the bubble, and the few places I checked only carried "premium" expensive crap.

Meanwhile, I'm still dreaming about getting a Remington 700 series lefty (I'm left eyed, right handed, left eye is on the sights).  Someday, I'll get a 1/2" group on paper at 100 yards.  with iron sights.  Maybe.  (left eye is 20/15)

Frank N Stein: doofusgumby: Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: There are like three responsible gun owners in the country.

Maybe.

/or maybe I'll just sell it on
//via legal FFL transfer
///Dunno if a 10 round .22 mag on a carbine is even still legal in California

You bought a gun and never even fired it? Why'd you get it? Also, .22 was dirt cheap up until a few months ago.

You don't remember the year to two years of low ammo supplies? I had just bought my mother her first gun, a little ruger 22 and took her to the range a couple of times before the whole 22LR fiasco happened. Couldn't buy bricks out here and stores would only sell you two boxes of 50 at a time. They would still sell out in a couple hours until next weeks partial delivery. It was ridiculous.

9 was the only other ammo that seemed to have a problem but got fixed much faster. I didn't have a 22 at that time so was still going to the range. Bought a ruger mark 4 hunter last fall and am having fun with it but ammo prices are still more than I think they oughtta be.
