I don't have a mortgage payment for another month, all card payed down, and have a lot of money in the bank/am about to collect rent on top of that. I finally graduated from paycheck to paycheck for the first time in my life.
Just realized that as I was tallying things getting ready to buy a car.. My whole farking life I've struggled working service industry jobs with little stability, I know own the house with a solid career and a future.
Time to see the psychiatrist and get the brain problems figured out. The anxiety and depression should have faded and mostly did, but the anxiety is still physically debilitating at times.

What a weird time to be doing well. I feel shiatty talking about it.

from your photo of Larry, the white cat correct? He looks ok, just stressed. Cats go mentally inward with change and stress, it can take months for them to come back out. For eating: I would use canned pate style food that you can add a bit of water to. Stir until it's a thick slurry. This is the easiest way to rehydrate a cat. You can also use chicken baby food. The tiny jars that say just chicken, possibly with gravy. Add a bit of water to that. Most cats love it.

Okay, we're back from the vet and once again ensconced in a motel room.  They gave me some special food for both kids and a prescription for Taylor. Dissolve one half a pill in water and administer orally until gone. I was supposed to get a syringe but didn't. Guess I'm going to hunt down an eye dropper.

Doctor said to heat this food before feeding. Just keep an eye on them and call back on Thursday for follow-up instructions.

Had Ray's driver take me there and back, plus a ride to the bank for cash, to the dollar store for a bag of cat litter and box, and by Church's for supper. He charged me  $10 for all that.

I ate, figured out the the remote and watching Katy. Gonna try to catch a few winks cuz I'm beat.

Oh yeah, Taylor ate some of the food and drank water. Larry is at least interested now but I don't see him taking it. We're both in bed and he's getting a belly rub.

Got my hair cut today (finally). Wish we'd get more of that rain that the forecasters keep teasing us with, but so far, very little has fallen. Unemployment still has "pending issues" with my account, so I'm "not authorized to receive payment", so I'll be calling them bright and squirrelly tomorrow morning to find out WTF.

If there's any place to celebrate your achievements with people who aren't going to slam you (sincerely) for it, it's here. I mean, sure, you'll get your balls busted a little, but you know that. And yeah, talk to the doc. Get that brain back in balance, whether it's through talk therapy or chemicals or a combination of the two. You're not alone in that battle, and there's a lot of us that know firsthand what a biatch it is.

Funny, but the reason Chicago wasn't New York 2: Electric Sickaroo was that JB Pritzker saw what was happening and didn't waffle. There was some....discussion between him and Lori Lightfoot about schools, once Pritzker understood what the objection was, he worked with the city to make sure kids stayed fed.

We still had it rough, but nothing like New York City did, and it was mainly because someone told JB that every day would mean more dead, and he listened.

So, it was merely bad here.

For the record? Florida now has more cases than Illinois. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason this should be true. Florida had far more warning. They saw what happened here, and in NYC.

Morning.  Mr. Dallymo has a minor hand surgery today so I took the day off to drive him to and from.  "It's just a local anesthetic, I can drive myself."  Uh, no.  I bought some new facemasks off of Etsy and they're beautiful, so I'm going to sport one for the waiting room.  "Who's that mysterious woman over there, in that fabulous mask, reading that September 2008 issue of 'Good Housekeeping'?"  It's sort of a demure floral print; if I really wanted to wow them I'd wear the one with the gorgeous blue and gold cloisonné look.  They wouldn't even know what hit them.

I think you mean those japanese beetles that look a lot like lady bugs. I had a janitorial job and the General Mills Tech Center. They had a day care center for their employees (a nice one) but those beetles loved it too. So I don't like them I had to clean them up. Nothing for them to eat in there so they'd get in and die.

Benadryl works as a mood stabilizer in dogs and cats. Dosing has to be done by weight and correctly.

But Perry Mason is on at 8:30 so I can't spend too much time improving my fitness.


Whew, that was good.  10 each bench presses and leg lifts.  With the pulleys disconnected from the weight plates, just with the little...I don't know...five pound? plate.

I'm decrepit.  Mr. Dallymo says if I do 10 a day for a couple of weeks maybe I'll be able to add a weight plate when I develop an actual muscle.

if he's still not eating you can "force feed" him. The baby food is great for that. Put some on your finger, open his mouth and wipe food on the roof of his mouth. Wait a few moments, repeat. This will often get stressed cats to eat.

Japanese beetle or something else in the scarab family is a good guess, overall shape and "look" is correct. On the other hand, there are a crapload of different types of beetle out there.

First attempt got eaten; retyping from memory so surely missing that dewy sheen of sparkling wit.

Steering of Son#1's car wasn't right. Alignment guy had it today and found left front wheel camber was way off (2 degrees negative of where it should be) and clearly something bent. Gonna be an expensive lesson for son to stop driving like a madman, to the tune of new strut, knuckle, hub, and tie rod end before it goes up on the alignment rack again.

This little guy is one reason why dead insects, feathers, and skins are difficult to curate. He's a dermestid beetle and he eats dead animal bits. He's a beetle, and found pretty much everywhere. These guys are a pain if you are trying to maintain a natural history collection.

When we got Gray, we did a shiat job introducing him to the household, and Princess ghosted us for weeks at a time for years afterwards. She's still Angry About The Kitten... but at least she hangs around now and will seek me out when I'm outside (well, maybe she likes the weed...)

My point being - it took YEARS for Princess to come back to anything resembling normal.

Larry's a heckin' chonker and he might know if he doesn't have so much fat on him, the hot weather might be a bit more bearable.

Developments in the Russian Appeasement Scandal, proxy murder chapter:
The talking points came out throughout the day yesterday, and they are:
1. NYT published leaked info to an ongoing investigation, destroying the investigation's momentum.
2. NYT didn't do enough legwork to establish all the facts, so they got stuff wrong.
3. President Trump wasn't informed, because the intelligence is still being verified.
4. NYT is purposefully publishing lies/hoax/disinfo in an attempt to make Trump look bad.

Alright, so looking at the above, it frankly is a salad shooter of bullshiat that not only doesn't jive with what we know so far but isn't internally consistent either.

If there's an ongoing investigation, how is it a hoax? If it's an ongoing investigation, why has it taken over a year to not yet be able to establish any veracity to its claim? If it's important enough to be over a year's worth of investigation, why had Trump not yet been informed? If the NYT's information was cultivated from illegal leaks, how is it solely their fault and not the leaker(s)' fault? How can the story be simultaneously a serious and ongoing investigation and a manufactured trifling? How can the investigation be damaged with the public's knowledge? Are international bad guys gonna now hide their tracks? Would good guys in the administration be unable to give details to intelligence now?

The administration's response comes off as righteous indignation when you consider their statements in a vacuum, but when you lay out everything together, bullshiat salad.

A complicating factor is that I have a concept whereby the deck would actually be three decks in one -- a specific sub-set could be extracted to make a complete Lenormand deck, as well as a complete Cartouche deck (a deck of 25 cards, published in the mid 1980s, and the first deck I saw whereby the universe told me, "just create your hexagons deck with fewer than 78 cards! it doesn't *have* to be a tarot!").

But my graphic design arm has been cut off. I'd have to learn a new app to get back to where I was and it has just been too frustrating. That, and I was probably trying to jam too many things into the idea...

I managed to get myself a job where many small applications talk to each other. I'd already had "let me talk to this other application" working properly - send request, get response, validate it's the right information.

I'm currently debugging "an application called me, let me make sure I handle it right" - and almost have it right.

The tricky part is "an application called me, let me call this other application and tell them this other application is the one who asked me about it" - yay, token management.

A complicating factor is that I have a concept whereby the deck would actually be three decks in one -- a specific sub-set could be extracted to make a complete Lenormand deck, as well as a complete Cartouche deck (a deck of 25 cards, published in the mid 1980s, and the first deck I saw whereby the universe told me, "just create your hexagons deck with fewer than 78 cards! it doesn't *have* to be a tarot!").

But my graphic design arm has been cut off. I'd have to learn a new app to get back to where I was and it has just been too frustrating. That, and I was probably trying to jam too many things into the idea...

Oh a DC comics version of Death please.

I was in an entomology PhD program for several years. I was paid to identify arthropods for the state agricultural extension service. I never finished the doctorate (long story) but I learned a lot about insects and other wee beasties.

Still feels weird. I was lucky during the last one as well with a full time year round job at a ski resort, albeit still paycheck to paycheck in employee housing. 
All of my old service industry friends that never graduated are farked right now, a bunch are homeless or on the verge etc.

Yes, in Los Angeles, and the earlier tour a few years back when a tour came through San Francisco. I forget if that piece was also in the 1976 Los Angeles exhibit when I saw the Death Mask, though.

Time to see the psychiatrist and get the brain problems figured out. The anxiety and depression should have faded and mostly did, but the anxiety is still physically debilitating at times.

So you are me 20 years ago. Talk to your doctor and be honest with them about what is going on in your head. Never was completely honest and the ER visits started. At least for me anyway.

Stay safe. I know I am going to breakdown and buy a drone eventually. I will consider you a expert consultant. Pay sucks as it nothing.

Me too. Herbie was also my introduction to Buddy Hackett.


Buddy was in a bunch of the low budget Disneys from that era. I liked the early Kurt Russel films but I don't know if he was in those. I liked the Gus the football playing donkey film I think he was in that. They got an ass to kick field goals. It wasn't the first time.  :)

The pieces I saw in Gilroy were enclosed in clear shallow acrylic boxes / deeply framed, such that the harvested materials are protected. Possibly even air-tight.

I'm bad with "dust collectors".

I can't imagine. His collection is so vast. Ofcourse he has help I'm sure. I know that everything he has died of natural causes. I also can't imagine being able to collect it in timely manner so it looks alive or fresh I guess.

This little guy is one reason why dead insects, feathers, and skins are difficult to curate. He's a dermestid beetle and he eats dead animal bits. He's a beetle, and found pretty much everywhere. These guys are a pain if you are trying to maintain a natural history collection.


Isn't he lovely himself, though! Pleasing shape and pattern.

Reading up on him a bit, it sure sounds like it. That part of my musical education is a bit limited. I only got to know Zappa's music when I picked up the first volume of his live "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" set.
Never got around to finding volumes 2-6 - one of those things to do when I retire.
