If the NFL and Goodell were smart (hint: they are not) the would have done the following:

1. Apologized specifically and effusively to Keapernick. He was calling this shiat out and got booed and ridiculed for it.
2. Ensure he was hired. If not as a quarterback, then hired him directly as into the leagues backoffice to put some teeth in fixing race relations in the league.
3. Ensure that coaches, directors, etc are at least passingly representative of the leagues makeup.

They did none of these. Not a singe one.  Fark them.

Baseball has it's problems but they're mostly been ownership and the players.  The NBA's in near-complete harmony, the NHL's doing what it can...but the NFL's just clusterfarking itself time and time again.

"I think the NFL is 10 years away from an implosion. I'm just telling you: Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. And they're getting slaughtered. Just watch. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. When you take it too far, people turn the other way. I'm just telling you, when you've got a good thing and you get greedy, it always, always, always, always turns on you. That's rule No. 1 of business." -- Mark Cuban (March 2014)

The league will try to play through a COVID outbreak like any other injury: "So-and-so is out two weeks with COVID," and then some team like the Dolphins will have the entire defense come down with the 'rona in Week 5 and it'll all collapse.

Sorry, but Colon Crapperneck is nothing but a third-rate quarterback and he knows he'd be found out - yet again - if he took another snap in the NFL. Yes, he was good ONCE but got figured out and shut down after his Superb Owl appearance. The same thing happened to white QB Jared Goff of the Rams. He was great 2 years ago, taking his team to the championship. Then Goff got figured out and shut down in 2019. I'm sure if Goff tried to be a little biatch like Crapperneck, he'd be persona non grata too.

2020-06-29 5:25:18 PM
So what happens when it turns out that all this time off and getting a little older makes him a substandard quarterback?  If they don't start him anyway, do they get protested as racist?  "Oh, Kap threw his 48th interception, don't say anything"

2020-06-29 5:32:39 PM
Kaepernick could have had a slot on a team a long time ago if he had really wanted one.  He's far more interested in being a political figure than playing football, just look at how he handled his workout day.  Even Stephen Smith had to call him out on his grifting.

Not a football fan at all, don't really care what's going on with the NFL teams and had no idea who Colin Kaepernick was.
That being said, I absolutely despise seahawks fans, they are beyond obnoxious and they turn Seattle into Alabama on game days.

Anything and I mean ANYTHING that takes down the NFL I'm 100% all for. The fans are insufferable.

If he could have won an NFL team some games, he would have been signed. They'd sign David Berkowitz if he could have won them games.

Kap was never good enough to be an elite player. Add in the circus/ hoopla / baggage distractions that come with him, and there's no good reason an NFL team should ever sign him.

The age requirement is 35.

When CK gained his rep as a star QB, he was on a team full of outstanding players, which made him look a lot better than he actually is. When the makeup of the 49ers changed people realized he wasn't that good.

He had his chance to get signed and back into the NFL, and turned his "workout" into a primadonna clusterfark rather than show some goodwill and that he was ready to get with the program.

So fark him and this whole martyr thing that's somehow rising around him.

An ignorant jackass who totally ignores the fact that for a large percentage of the population the national anthem is a symbol of America?  Who wants to make this all about Trump for political purposes, ignoring the fact that there actually are people who view kapernick's actions as the insult that he maliciously intended it to be?

Hey, we get it.  Black Uber Alles....
only the black/woke version of kapernick's actions is allowed.   The racism industry needs a hero, and so the media  has turned his insult to America into some glorious act, and him into a courageous figure.  And now they are attempting to build on that.  Making a hero out of a con man, Hollywood style.

But not everyone agrees. You can hype dogsh*t all you want, but in the end it's still dogsh*t.

Kaepernick doesn't want to play in the NFL. He has money, he has fame, and he has his cause.

If he signs a backup QB contract, his icon status is severely reduced after the 2 weeks of publicity post signing. If he ever gets into a game a sucks, his cause basically disappears.

He knows this.

This isn't to disparage him or support the NFL, it's to disparage the idiots who always complain every time a sucky QB gets signed to a backup QB deal.

2020-06-30 12:37:34 PM
He's 32 and hasn't taken a professional snap since the 2016 season.  He's not going to be leading a team from the QB position any time in the near future, or probably ever again.  He was a talented guy, but the reflexes, situational awareness, and conditioning didn't just go dormant waiting for him to sign again.  Four years is a long time.

Lay off a season, maybe two, sure.  But he'd be scarcely better than a middling college player at this point.  I don't care how hard he works in private gyms.  There's no substitute for working with pro talent day in and day out.

He made a moral choice.  A good one, in my opinion.  I hope he sticks to it.  A successful on-field future isn't really in the cards anymore.
