According to Wikiquote: "James Ross Clemens, a cousin of mine, was seriously ill two or three weeks ago in London, but is well now. The report of my illness grew out of his illness; the report of my death was an exaggeration."

Kamala Harris' name will come up somewhere not long after this I bet, because she's on Biden's short list. Allegedly.

Waiting to see if BET uses "they all look alike" as an excuse.

Just because Willie was Kamala's sugar daddy (before she became a corrupt prosecutor) doesn't mean he should forever be introduced as such.

No really he SHOULD. Make him own his mess.

It's sort of in between. It isn't lunch and it isn't dinner but you get a good meal.

Who paid?

I'm betting the taxpayers paid.

There's an SNL sketch that I can never find. It had Ellen Cleghorne playing Natalie Cole right after she made the record with her (then dead) father Nat King Cole.  It was a record where she performs "duets" of hit songs with other dead singers.  They would show the dead person's face, in the corner of the tv, singing their part of each song.

Anyway, she gets to Stand By Your Man with Tammy Wynette.  Who was not dead at the time.  Tammy's face shows up in the corner and she says "I am not dead!" at which point Cole sings 'I am not dead'. Then Wynette says "biatch, this is how rumors get started!"; 'this is how rumors get started' . . .

Anyway, CSB, don't know why that one's still impossible to find

Trailblazer for sure, but became a showboat and San Francisco is still suffering from his hand-picked machine politicians.

At this point it's a race between Harris and Newsom to shoehorn their way into the Presidency.

Separate checks. It was an accidental thing. I was sitting at the bar at Perry's on Union Street (my office was across the street I ate there pretty often) and he sat down next to me. I told him I'd met him when I was in high school and was a big fan ever since. He asked if I was a reporter and when I said I wasn't he started dishing the dirt

I remember that skit, so you're not imagining things.

Just remember Kamala Harris got to where she is now by sleeping with her boss, AKA Willie Brown.

That and laughing about how she threw pot smokers into prison for long terms.

Kamala Harris.  Take it from a Californian, Just Say No.

I met the guy once in the late 80s and he is an absolute sorcerer.  I think he was speaker of the assembly at the time.

My employer was politically connected and could get into his office.  I'd never met an A-list politician before and remember being shocked at how skilled he was at his craft.  It didn't matter if every word he spoke was a self-serving lie.   It was totally spellbinding - like listening to Saruman.

I just remember living in SF in the '90s and Willie declaring that if you weren't making $50K a year (a pretty tidy sum at the time) you had no business living there.
