Even if they don't, it's prudent. China has thus far stuck (mostly) to soft power projection. Trump's blatant weaknesses, however, has them more willing to test military power projection. They're probably going to push as hard as they can in both terms before the election, because Biden doesn't suffer from the same issues as Trump. Expect to see Vlad pushing more as well.

....Ehhh, probably not.
Not yet anyway.

inglixthemad: because Biden doesn't suffer from the same issues as Trump.

Biden suffers from a whole different set of issues, the first being that he's not mentally fit for the position. He won't make one term let alone two.  He is (or was) pro-china but they'll probably hold off until they know who's actually calling the shots in his cabinet. It likely won't be his VP if they're still shopping around for the right figurehead this late in the game.

India isn't any more likely to leap into war blindly. There have been regular confrontations between these two and for their bravado I think they already know how easily this can become a much larger war. They depend on weapons from Russia and the US, which isn't the most stable position to be in.

I think we're going to see alot of bravado for now. Everyone moving troops around, building forts, sailing ships in circles, but nothing overt.   If India backs away from the Chinese market at the same time the US appears to be unplugging itself then that might make cooler heads prevail in Beijing.  In the end they need the money more than they want a conflict.

Love it. Biden isn't mentally fit. The problem being you extended too far on the follow-through. China fears the Biden, because Biden isn't an easily manipulated egomaniac.

Does China hold millions of dollars in loans for his businesses?  If so, that would be really bad, and make him easily manipulated and unfit for president.  Right?

Owning part of a loan traded between funds does not give you power over the person who formerly had the loan.
Giving a billion and a half dollars to the legally endangered crackhead son of a lifelong politician is a different matter.

India was humiliated in a brief war in 1962 when China decided to redraw the Chinese-India border. In the regional power positioning China is currently out maneuvering India for long term regional domination, where India has no allies, is surrounded by Chinese military bases, and is economically beholden to China's whims. Now China is considering a new redraw of the border and India has a huge inferiority complex from the defeat in 1962 and modern development which results in Indian chickenhawks desperately trying to convince themselves that a full direct war with China will be "easy" and India will be the clear victors.

Teenage girls DGAF about your political party, and they are more powerful. China figured this out. The USA, which has stuck to Zuckerberg and Gen Xer Twitter, has not figured this out, because the USA is a bunch of patriarchal college dropouts with shiatty companies that have monopolies instead of innovations.

India is defending itself as best it can, having screwed itself forever for IT security by making alliances with the USA's corporate and military strategy. When your big ally, that was the training ground for your engineers, is being wiped out by Kpop Stans, it's time to panic and retreat from China. Meanwhile China has always recognized who has real power in the information age: your own daughter who is transmitting her impressions of you from your own guest bathroom. Modi is farked, thanks to the USA's corporate and university culture since the 1990s. Xi is probably laughing at Putin for putting all his eggs in the White House basket.

Calling someone a troll is not an argument.
Also: considering that communists have a habit of not only attacking someone they dislike but also attacking their family and children and any friends or business associates, Trump would know that going against them meant opting out of any future dealing with the Chinese. They might keep arrangements just for political appearances, but that lasts so long as his term in office (which they are aggressively trying to shorten because they know he'll continue to push back).

Joe Biden was in office during all the years when the US was exporting its business to China. He became quite wealthy from it.  He'd like nothing more than to bring back the tpp and finish off the middle class with one last betrayal.

Your characterization of Chinese communism as though they're all the same is like listening to someone talk about the great country of Africa just needing maps.  You and your hero got away with playing Shroedinger douchebag for years to wriggle out of getting pinned to any position, but when you degrade the credibility gap to policy, then people eventually grow tired of your shiat and take nothing at all you say as credible.

Wait, I think you have the two mixed up. Trump's been incoherent for years. Like 5+ years. He never had a filter but at least it used to be mildly entertaining. Now it's all meaningless phrases bundled together because people applaud individual lines. Mostly you can only understand them because they were repeated before, individually, often by other people. Hell he was that way in 2016. I tried sitting through a couple rallies in TV just to see what he was actually saying.

It was sad how loosely strung together phrases full of fear and bigotry with so little thought or cohesion behind them enthralled so many people. And with such tremendous entanglements and debts to gangsters and foreign entities and governments!

Biden is the other one. The guy who actually knows what the hell he's doing.

No but pretending Biden is beholden to China and Trump mysteriously isn't because: "reasons!" is literally trolling for trolling sake. Just like Trumplethinskin is accusing Biden, he's outsourced shiat constantly. Worse still, his voters buy shiat made in China all the time while thumping their chests for America.I mean, we're talking about a party so dumb they believed FoxConn FFS. That's a special kind of stupid considering how many times that company has reneged. Let's look at his awesome China trade deal... a whole lot of nothing. NAFTA? Change amounts to nothing for the average worker again. He single-handedly managed to obliterate US farming on a scale that was previously unheard of in politics. Now all those farmers are eating government steak and lobster for what? His nothing deal?

China trying to shorten Trump's tenure? What effing planet are you on? He's effectively given them a green light to repress Hong Kong, blessed their one China policy of trying to force Taiwan to knuckle under, and given them numerous openings in the Pacific (and elsewhere) for soft power expansionism in a way that they couldn't have fathomed remotely plausible a few years ago. His policies have made China ascendancy near assured if he gets another 4 years.

I haven't even touched on alliances or anything else of merit yet, but to say Trumpenfuhrer's policies have hurt America in general isn't nearly condemning enough.

/assuming he can make decisions when he can't speak coherently.

If you think Trump is entertaining, look up some Biden quotes.
He had a long history of foot in mouth disease BEFORE he got old.

Now every time he steps up to the mic it's just incoherent gold.

He's been losing it for years.

way south: BolloxReader: way south: firemanbuck: Does China hold millions of dollars in loans for his businesses?  If so, that would be really bad, and make him easily manipulated and unfit for president.  Right?

Owning part of a loan traded between funds does not give you power over the person who formerly had the loan.
Giving a billion and a half dollars to the legally endangered crackhead son of a lifelong politician is a different matter.

/I don't fault Biden for wanting to protect the boy.
/but I don't trust him to make decisions about China with such a liability.

Donald Trump instead gives us wacky gaffes like "thousands of kids in cages for years on end!" Oh boy, what a funny gaffe!
