You mean you can be sent to prison for giving family members fake jobs? Has anyone told Trump?

Le Canard Enchaîné is more than just satire.  They've always done actual muckraking journalism too, for more than 100 years.

My French is a little rusty but isn't the magazine's title "The unchained duck"?

The chained duck.  (enchaine == in chains)

But "canard" is also slang for newspaper.  Wikipedia has a big dissertation on the name - there are several other slang interpretations of it.

Should have just had an affair - mistresses are cheaper than lawyers.

Like Private Eye in the UK. Half is satire, half is serious reporting on politics, business, the media etc. Often stuff that someone has written for a mainstream newspaper but they wouldn't publish it so they give it o Private Eye.

Ha.

The French Court has ruled. For his transgressions, Trump will be subjected to the Pear of Anguish, in his peepee hole, until death.

Wait, so you CAN prosecute former presidents?  Just taking notes.  For a friend.  No reason.

Normally mistresses lead to lawyers, just of a different sort, but it is France so probably not.

So kind of the same niche that Jon Stewart's Daily Show and Last Week Tonight have filled stateside?

Or you can be like our guy and pay his mistress, then have to pay a lawyer, then have to pay a bunch of more lawyers to cover what that lawyer said and did then hire even more lawyers because she came back and told everybody what you did with her even though she said she wouldn't. You got wonder why this guy keeps bankrupting businesses? It's almost like he's an idiot

The "chained duck", actually. "Canard" is slang for "newspaper".

And it's not really a satirical newspaper, more like "investigative news with attitude".
