He even referred to them as 'great people'. Can you imagine the collective uproar if Obama called the violent protesters 'great people?

It would probably be crickets for several hours.  The idea that the [racial slur] called them "great people" would seize up the little Klannies brains for quite a while.

Pretty sure this is intended to draw away attention from the bounty scandal.

Good thing this president has such a deep well of horror shows to draw from when he needs a distraction.  Otherwise we'd have to endure him calling a press conference where he drops trou on live tv and drops a steaming load of KFC in the Rose Garden.

I believe I said something along these lines after the low energy and sad Tulsa rally:

Hardcore hate is like any other hardcore drug - it releases a hit of serotonin and dopamine in the brain that makes you feel good. And like any other hard drug, you constantly need a bigger hit.

His followers have been listening to the same rote dogwhistles and allusions for 4 years now. The same tired phrases simply don't provide his cultists with the same frisson they once did, it no longer makes them shiver with delight to hear him say the same things. Chanting "lock her up" isn't going to work anymore - besides the fact that he didn't, it doesn't provide the same rush of verboten joy it used to provide.

If Trump is going to recapture the energy his base had in 2016, he is going to have to push the limit of dogwhistling and step into blatant racism. It's the only way to re-energize his base and recapture the energy of the 2016 campaign.

And here we are, retweeting videos of boomers yelling "white power."

/also, he must be worried about the Russian bounty thing

What really alarms me about that tweet is the "Biden is shot" line at the end.

I'd take that as a threat.

What's truly hilarious about this is the people at The Villages chanting "White Power" wouldn't be allowed within 500 feet of Mar-a-Shiathole's front gate. They have no idea how much they thoroughly repulse and disgust him. Not because of their politics but because of what they look like and where they live. They are useful idiots to him, nothing more. If he could be guaranteed another four years in the White House by turning on them, he'd turn on them so farking fast, their gunts would shake.

"White Power" is the slogan for the President's clean coal policy. If you clean the coal so well that it becomes white, then you get white power when you burn it.

OK. I know I'm going to look like an apologist, but I'm going to clarify something here. And I think I have the right take on it.

The crowd was repeatedly calling the golf cart paraders racist, kkk, nazis.

After someone screams at the guy he's a racist, he laughs and says "white power." This seems he's he's taking the piss out of them for their hysteria. Like "booga booga, I'm a scary Nazi."

That's doesn't mean Trump is clear of the egg on his face of course. But the situation is a bit different than the headlines will make it look.

and you know this because you live in florida, have firsthand knowledge of the villages, or maybe even personally hangout with the guy "joking" and "taking the piss"? like your parents are his neighbors or something?

also, even if your analysis is correct, non-racists pretty much NEVER imitate actual white nationalist/supremacists/scary nazis as just casual funny jokes. in public. while being recorded. in the current moment in national racial awareness.

the only people who think publically "seriously pretending" to yell "white power" is a light and silly joke that makes the other side look bad are people who think "white power" is actually a really good idea.

You're so right, it's important to have a nuanced take on the president of a multi-racial republic broadcasting white supremacist propaganda, We should probably parse his entire lifetime of racist sentiment too. This was a big oopsie.

Honestly, we don't know the intention of Captain "White Power" piloting the SS Glorified Hoverround.
Maybe he's joking. Maybe he's just pushing the buttons of protestors. Maybe he's serious. Regardless of his intention, screaming "white power" is not a good look and reinforces the stereotypes of The Villages. There is no justification for screaming white power in any situation.
