It's totally understandable why news of a treatment or vaccine is sought so much given how disruptive the pandemic is, but a healthy scepticism is wise.

My wife's a scientist. She hates reading the press coverage of science. She'll read the article and then the paper and repeatedly say, "That's not what it says."

There needs to be an addendum to that as well, whenever some high tech bio-engineering firm is involved.  "CEO leaks preliminary studies purposefully taken out of context, encourages major stock value increases, sells own over-valued stock making large number of millions and retires a rich man.

The chart is accurate for what it is, but there also exists bad faith opportunists, as well as innocent researchers.


Yes, you think they would have learned from Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes.
