Close everything down that is not essential.

No Bars, no dine in eating, no church, no conventions, close all but a few hotels, etc.
Place all mortgages  on Hold, until the crisis is over.
Pay every American 18 or over, $2000 a month, +$500 per child.
Pay every American who HAS to work who is essential an addition $1000 a month.

This will be over in 2-3 months.

But America can't do what all those other countries have done because...reasons

Hm, sounds like a proper way to handle a pandemic.

Unfortunately it also sounds like socialism and/or tyranny, so us brave American Patriots must resist it.

Once you do those things, people drop by from places that didn't.  And about half of America simply *won't* avoid the plague.

The bar opted to close down temporarily to install air purifiers and to eliminate lines, a post says on its Facebook page.

Kinda like closing the proverbial barn doors after you get the postcard from the horses now vacationing in Aruba.

Trump is still only half way to the number of publicly reported civilian deaths caused by the invasion of Iraq. He's a long way from matching the number of deaths indirectly caused by the invasion of Iraq, such as those killed by ISIS.

Trump, however, has the distinction of being the first American president in a very long time to kill more of his own people than foreigners.

I don't see what the problem is here. If you're stupid enough to go to a bar in the middle of a pandemic, you're deserve to die on a ventilator while you drown from the inside. This isn't rocket science.

I'll bet 50%+ of those patrons were Trumpers along with a) they're not going to self quarantine and b) a couple of those folks are going to be dead days from now due to having cormobities which causes complications from COVID-19.

/this is becoming a self correcting problem.

a friend was trying to pester me to go out to the local brewery right after they were allowed to reopen for outdoor service.  in the same conversation he was talking about how many people he came in contact with daily at work and how while dine in and bars are still closed one local place lets some regulars come in and have a drink or 3 while you wait for your order

i politely declined

Nope. They'll mostly be fine but your mother is going to get sick and die because of their bad decisions. That's why this is such a big public health crisis. If only the idiots suffered from this we'd be ok.

After a dozen recommendations I finally grabbed a copy.  A few pages in and I was hooked, and read the entire thing in a day.

Nope. My mother died from kidney disease and diabetes due to lack of healthcare and failed to qualify for Medicaid. I have zero immediate family members in the United States so it doesn't affect me.

This was the Canadian plan (more or less). We had 238 new cases yesterday, our worst day was 2700 new cases.

In the long run it will take a long time for the country to financially recover from this, or they could start to tax the wealth and off shore corps.

/I've been lucky enough to work form home for the past 3 months.
