"Error. Something went wrong." Seems about right - you can trace it back to November 8th 2016, I'm thinking.

The plan is for the US to be the only country burning coal for fuel.  That way the price will be very cheap since no one else will be competing for it. Then Trump will build giant turbines to blow the smog to Europe.

Is someone polishing a piece of coal to try to make it into a diamond?

Catering to the rubes constituents. He knows full well (and so does everyone else, including the miners) that coal is dying, but for the poor bastards that depend on it for their livelihood, they want to hold onto it while they can. And I understand that, I do. But the clock's running out, and for the young folks in that industry, it's time to start looking elsewhere.

/they don't want to hear this, too bad.

They say that shiat meanwhile they scream about China polluting with coal.

Cant wait for all these old farks to die off.

TIL they actually replaced Perry.  There wasn't much mention of it.  Perhaps it's best if we don't know much, like when your parents are behind on the rent.

What are you talking about? It's a market with explosive potential.

I was wondering how and when the Republicans were going to revive coal as an issue.  Moscow Mitch uses coal as one of his main political talking points here in Kentucky.  He needs it to energize the hicks to get out to the voting booth.  It would be to obvious (and awkward) if Cocaine Mitch were to just suddenly talk about coal since he hasn't done anything to help the coal miners so he needs someone else to jumpstart the conversation.  I expect to see his coal commercials very soon.

Huh. I had no idea this was a thing that happened. Guess that says something about the volume of crap I'm getting used to, because normally that is a thing I would have noticed.

Pennsylvanian anthracite might be stabilizing now that there is no power generation and demand is all steel, heritage railroads, and pizza ovens. The rest of the industry is going to die east to west as more power plants close.

Why? They're being replaced by young dumb farks at an astounding rate. Two thirds of my graduating class from high school are rabid Trumpers who hated black students coming into our schools and have posted or responded to crime news stories involving black suspects shared on Facebook with dehumanizing language for years. We're approaching 40. These suburban rubes will be with us for decades.

It has a bright future as a lesson in how damaging an energy policy based solely in the exploitation of fossil fuels and cheap labor can be. Otherwise it's best left in the coalbin of history.

This is why I always say education is key.  The old folks aren't the problem.  Or, it's not because they're old.  It's because they were educated in hickburg, if at all.  We need to get the kids early, I'm talking kindergarten here.  They need to be taught compassion and empathy.  By the time they're in high school, they'll look a lot different from the high schoolers you're describing.

Sorry you had to experience that, by the way.

Where I come from, coal died in 1979... but nobody wants to believe it.  The town was even nice enough to put up a headstone in front of the town hall/library:

/ It's supposed to be a MONUMENT for the town's centennial, but the idiots bought a friggin' headstone.  Probably got it cheaper...

Hate to break it to you, but that's not the way it works. Seems there is a never ending procession of a-holes lining up to take their place. Look at James O'Keefe, Mark Zuckerburg, Stephen Miller. Those aren't old men. They are the evil farks in line.

What would happen if Putin's gopniks dropped a bomb down a coal mine?

Seal the farking things up, they're too much of a tempting threat to national security.

Perry got thrown under the bus as part of Trump's Ukraine scheme. This guy was Deputy Secretary and just moved up a slot.
