From what I've heard, Stan's daughter was burning through his fortune even before he passed away. It was said that if she skipped her weekly shopping spree, store owners all along Rodeo Drive would call her up, asking if she's OK.

And revisionism aside, Stan really was a backstabbing POS in his own right. One of the first things Jack Kirby did when he jumped from Marvel to DC was to create a character based just enough on Stan as to avoid a lawsuit.

Don't comic book nerds claim that the other guy, Jack Kirby actually created all the characters?

Some Junkie Cosmonaut: It is in fact almost entirely about a Chinese company that committed vast amounts of fraud, in China.

Those facts aren't so much in dispute.

The national origin of the company and where the fraud was committed is immaterial.  It's merely included here as an anti-Asian dog whistle.
