feckingmorons: Should I have any idea who that person is?

She was a personality before they started calling them influencers.  She made mostly comedic, mildly risque videos on a regular basis, both making fun of sluttiness while exuding sluttiness as intentional congnitive dissonance.

I had subscribed for awhile, she'd done one where she made fun of herself and her life choices "crying over your master's degree", and it was her actual master's degree.  That got a laugh.  Stopped subscribing when she got big and started pushing products etc.

Her content has been a guilty pleasure of mine for a long time. I remember both of the videos she referenced as her problematic ones. The first one they keep saying was blackface was her AWFUL spray tan from her days as a dancer. I didn't think the video was particularly memorable. And her face was literally that color all the time. It was too much spray tan. Was it a bad choice? Yes. Was it deliberate blackface? I don't think so. I would have ditched watching her then. The other was her playing a stupid racist character saying a stupid racist thing in a skit followed by "was that racist? I think it was!" to make fun of people's lack of awareness with what they say. She was also a 20-something in a really toxic environment in relationship to women's bodies. In retrospect, all are stupid and not funny, and her apology delves into the fact that if people are hurt by them, they should be gone, no question, and she should apologize. I don't think she should be "canceled" for them, and she's been really outspoken about things like white privilege and body positivity as of late. She has grown up a lot since her early days on YouTube. The video talking to one of the Kardashians about white privilege shows how much she has learned and has become outspoken about.

Not sure I remember the specific Minaj-parody video or not.  I remember her excessive spray-tan videos seeming to make fun of the Jersey Shore type of phenomenon more than anything else.  Don't think I saw the other video you mentioned.

I certainly didn't see all of her content.  What I did see was often tacky and tasteless, but I'm not sure I could say anything specifically was or was not over the line.  I also admit that I don't exactly know where the line is or should be either.  I mean, I can enjoy much of the drama in Breakfast at Tiffany's but I cringe at Mickey Rooney's scenes.  Likewise I'm not sure what to make of Peter Sellers' scenes in Murder By Death, the character is making fun of Charlie Chan, who was always a non-Asian actor in yellowface, but was the parody also parodying yellowface, or perpetuating it?  How about when the movie was contemporaneous versus today?

There are no easy answers, if there were then we wouldn't have this problem to start with.

Don't know who she is, but props for saying, "I'm ashamed of my behavior." That beats the hell out of a "I'm sorry if anyone was offended" non-apology.

In other words, she's worth 8 million (according to Google), can in theory easily live off of that and avoid any backlash for anything she's done in the past.

Well played.

I liked the videos with her dogs. Those poor, goofy dogs.

However, the only Youtube personalities I recognize are the trio of goodness and light that are Hannah Hart, Mamrie Hart and Grace Helbig.

There's plenty of that on her behalf from her fans. Seriously, they're all blaming "cancel culture" for "ruining her life."

Which was the point, really.

She's fairly entertaining, and I've watched some of her videos when they randomly show up but her fan base consists of the women of walmart as far as I can tell.  I did actually see her video about quitting youtube, and she seemed pretty genuine about it.

Side note, first I ever saw her was as Eve in ERB's Adam vs Eve rap battle.

As for the problematic videos, don't think I ever saw them.  They sound pretty borderline, and clearly she doesn't have a huge history of it, but good for her for calling them out herself even if her fans want to marginalize it for her.

I know who she is, I would say her popularity is based on "pretty girl but makes fart and dick jokes"

She hosts a show on Sirius XM, like the top 40 hits from YouTube for the week that sometimes has an interesting song here or there

She started the whole "young girl talking about herself" (with light sex appeal) industry that became something of an annoying plague on Youtube for awhile (re: the whole "reply girls" phenomenon).

I found her views of things rather droll, obvious, and banal, but I can see there being a demographic that would find her musings deep and insightful.

I think I found her apology video.

Monty Python - Stoning
Youtube FQ5YU_spbw0

If the borderline videos are her with a shiatty spray tan, and her going South Park to poke fun at racists (just like Cartman and Uncle Ruckus don't reflect their creator's actual views), *and* she doesn't have a history of actual overt racism?

Maybe her fans *should* marginalize this for her.

My teen daughter is woke af and still spent a while yesterday ranting about Jenna getting cancel cultured.
And she's right, we only give conservatives ammo when we "cancel" carelessly.
Though I do believe voting with your wallet is an excellent use of free speech, when the practice is well-regulated.

/She plays us a lot of Jenna's dog videos.
//Seems like a really average, nice person.
///If almost creepily obsessed with her pups in an almost "I can't have children" kind of way.

I look forward to you congratulating her when she has them removed because they slid or are starting to leak.

Narrator: But he won't and will revert to saying now she has scars across her entire breast instead of just the underboob or areola...probably.

Outside of pregnancy/breast-feeding/reconstructive surgery after mastectomy, 100% of implants are because some farkboi negged on a woman's body enough to make her undergo a traumatic procedure and I'd wager the vast majority of the former are for the same reason but validated because of the excuses stated.

In conclusion, if you hate implants blame the men in those women's lives and the industries that promote body modification. It's so rampant men have convinced women we need to shame other women for their bodies.

She's fine now, she was fine before, she'll be fine after.

/Tangent -- men who hate implants = men who are jealous they can't undergo a procedure to make their dick bigger? Interesting hypothesis at the very least.
