...actually, "Night Court" might just be a reboot that would work with a different zany cast of characters (and possibly a drop in from a few originals every now and then.  Get the guy who runs "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" to run it, and I could see the possibilities.

Markie Post: glad she's alive. That hair cut needs to RIP.
Richard Moll is 77 odd, I would have bet money he has passed. Mandela effect?
John Laroquette: my bad confused him with Larry Hagman.

Charles Robinson is 74. Omg I'm so glad he's still here.
Marsha Warfield is 66 wow. Odd. Maybe I confused her with Selma Diamond . I recall a tribute. But, since it was both in the clip, I took wrong.

So only Harry? WTF. Cool. (From main cast) would have said no. Hum.

Thx

In some ways Night Court was pretty risque for the time, especially for NBC but pretty tame by today's standards.  At the same time there were some pretty politically incorrect stuff that they'd never do today.

I disagree. No one can replace Markie Post.

OK, it's been 30 minutes. Glad your back and using Bing for those images. Good stuff. Maybe Dan could be played by Bill Maher. There was a long story arc about Dan being gay or afraid of being gay. The show addressed racial issues and veterans issues in a way that's progressive even now.

I just posted about some episodes being progressive even for today, but the truth is those are probably very few compared to the type you mention. As was the style of the time. I watch a lot of 80's commercials on YouTube and man...a lot of that stuff wouldn't fly at all. I mean, the shampoo doesn't have to be THAT sexy, does it?

Pop quiz, hotshot. It's the mid-1980s. NBC's "Must see TV" consists of The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers and Night Court. Which show in real life has an actor who drugged and raped multiple women? Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) is a real sleaze. Sam Malone (Ted Danson) boasted that he slept with over 1,000 women. And Alex P. Keaton (Michael J. Fox) was just in a movie where he almost slept with his teenage mother.

Tremors 2, 3, and 4 aren't bad, but not quite up to the level of the first film.  The original is better than it has any right to be.  It punches above its weight class.  But the next three films are decent B movie fare.  The more recent sequels (5 and 6) have sucked.

The Burt Gummer character in the first three films was an affectionate caricature of what we now call doomsday preppers.  In the fourth film, a prequel set in the 19th Century, they invert the character for good effect.  Instead of playing tough as nails gun toting desert dwelling Burt Gummer, he plays Burts ancestor Hiram Gummer, an eastern dandy who expects "civilized" service, cheats people, and who has never touched a gun.

In the last two films, the caricature has gone from being affectionate to mean-spirited.  Burt has become more coarse in his language, more openly anti-government, and just a dick.  In the previous films he's helping people.  He's become more of a Captain Ahab-like character in the last two.  Also, whoever took over the writing or directing for the last two films has a urine fetish.  I'm not joking.  I'll probably watch the upcoming one, set on a tropical island, because hey, Tremors.  But I don't have high hopes.

Actually, I think the character defining moment of Burt Gummer is in the third film.  "Desert" Jack, Jody Chang, and Burt have just assembled everything they need to make their potato gun flaming spear thrower, Burt having lost all of his guns, and Jody asks if any of them have a lighter.  Jack says "Burt does.".  Burt says "How do you know?".

"Well, 'cause you're Burt."

"Damn right I am!" (Pulls a Zippo out of his pocket).

Tremors the series? Own the dvd. Two things i remember from the series are:
- Twitchel (Dean Norris) sends them to investigate disappearances in a small town. They start talking anti government snd Burt agrees.. till he learns they think aliens took the missing people. Then he thinks they are nuts.

- Christopher Lloyd guest stars as a scientist who worked in the area. Tourist guy gives him a ride home at the end and asks if he ever did any experiments with time travel.

Yeah, in another film of that type, he'd be the one who gets eaten. Who knew he'd be leading the whole franchise. I've actually seen parts of probably most of them at some time or another. I don't know why Kevin Bacon thought he was too good to be in at least one more of them. He was in Hollow Man FFS.
