Just like everything pre-2020 it feels like a lifetime ago.  To everyone who was married on the heels of this (and still together): happy eon anniversary

Longer than the Confederacy.

This and the recent ruling were the two most nerve-wracking rulings of my life.  It's terrifying to sit there and worry about how nine people will decide how much of a person you get to be.

What about the millions of straight marriages that have been so adversely affected!

Oh well. Somebody tried, but a couple of wet blankets shut it down.

Still seems like a year ago to me. Guess I'm getting old. The years are starting to blur together.

Evil's aim just switched from gay to trans.

We still got work to do, because evil is a sonofabiatch.

We're gonna get there, but we're gonna need to shovel a lot of manure to clear the way.

I thought everyone everywhere was going to get divorced and then get gay married.  Did that not happen?

I used to pull gigs at an awesome gay club. I loved that job, usually making more PT than at my FT "real job." Anyway, I worked hours after the ruling had been made public. It was one of most joyous occasions of my life. Lots of butt grabbing and smooches. I'm straight but who cares? It's just my butt.

Some of my customers, before the ruling, asked why I cared so much about gay marriage as a straight man. I always found that to be a dumb question. May as well ask me why I support black folks not being mistreated because I'm white.

Anyway, it was wonderful night and I think I made $1500 or so, working the Cabana bar.

I could have sworn there was a Loving v. Virginia thread a week or so ago.  Am I going crazy?  😳

That case was the spiritual predecessor to Obergfell.  🌈

I've run into many different gay married couples since this decision.

90% of them have been healthier than some of the relationships I saw growing up in the 80's.

/Seriously, the eighties were a weird time to come-of-age.

Probably unfashionable to say these days, but I always felt flattered when a guy grabbed my ass.  The fact that *someone* wanted to grab it gave me hope

I should probably make clear the 90% couples I was talking about in the 80's were straight, typically divorced people taking shiat/dragging kids into court and shiat.

Not like the one's who weren't currently in court were kinda farked up too, in their own way.

/Maybe it was the orange shag carpeting?

The other day when the plague rat thing started I had this like mental image of a map and as the line/dots went city to city you could see the faint outline of basically death, on his horse(Trump and his campaign team) and how everything would follow or however it goes (I only know it from the movie Tombstone) and just as it travels place to place you get that black plauge educational video grey out of US cities.

Needless to say would probably make an interesting painting but as just imagery goes....yikes brain

I should clarify I meant painting because the simularities between BP, 1300's style art and weird religious art of that time and not that I was suggesting one of those crying eagle Trump jumper painings

There has been rampant pedophillia, though. Just not in the LGBT community. It's mostly the people accusing the gays of being pedos that are the pedos.

Old and busted:

On October 28, 1964, after waiting almost a year for a response to their motion, the ACLU attorneys brought a class action suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. This prompted the county court judge in the case, Leon M. Bazile (1890-1967), to issue a ruling on the long-pending motion to vacate. Echoing Johann Friedrich Blumenbach's 18th-century interpretation of race, Bazile wrote:

Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and he placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with his arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that he separated the races shows that he did not intend for the races to mix.

/I guess God must have REALLY hated the Age of Exploration and subsequent colonization of the New World...

If I had to have sex with an animal, it would be lemur. That feels like a non sequitur considering we are talking about two consenting adults getting married in a free country.

happy belated anniversary to my uncles.  but just because they got MARRIED when it became legal nation-wide, does NOT change the fact that they've been together as long as i can remember...  and i'm an 80's kid...

2 things:

I am SO glad this went through the Supreme Court 5 years ago, and not now.

This is a quote from Justice Thomas' dissenting opinion from the link:
"...invites judges to do exactly what the majority has done here-roa[m] at large in the constitutional field guided only by their personal views as to the fundamental rights protected by that document..." If that was his assessment of the ruling by the majority opinion Judges, I wonder how he feels about Drumpf
