I can't get all that pissed off at FB. It's one of the few ways I have of staying connected to the outside world and staying sane these days. My beef is with Congress. Any and all websites that expose users to solicitations, advertising, and political content ought to be regulated.

And I would remind you cranks who biatch about what your various feeds look like that you select the people who are allowed to share things with you. If you don't like what they share, you might need some new friends. My feeds are really interesting, entertaining, and often comforting. Yes, I am a snide biatch but FFS, get your social poop together!

I dumped Failbook in 2016. Yes, I miss keeping track of all the extended family, but then again, I don't. Important information gets to me via email or phone/text. Outside of that narrow circle above, the rest of FB is shiat. Thanks to that greedy F*ckerberg and his support of Dump it became a conspiracy shaithole.

I had to set up a Facebook page back around 2006 for a class.  Once I could prove that, I never used it again.  I used a throwaway email and can't be bothered to even try to recover it.

My family knows that if they need to contact me, they have texting, calling, email or snail mail.  Since it's either all bragging all the time or craziness unleashed, I doubt I'm missing a thing.

F*ck Facebook! A couple months ago my daughter and I were scrolling through looking at pictures of her cousins in my feed when we crossed a post that was Trump's smiling head Photoshopped onto the body of a naked man whose penis had been enlarged and draped over his leg. Lightning quick I hit the power button on the monitor. Later reported it to Facebook. They sent me a generic email saying that they reviewed the picture and determined it did not violate their terms of service and suggested I block or hide the person who posted it. Blocked them, and f*ck you Facebook. Then, earlier this week I'm scrolling through looking at pics and videos of family members and I come across a repost, once again from someone I was friends with in high school, this time it's a video of several protesters yelling at a man. The man turns around and fires a gun at one of the protesters multiple times. The protester stumbles, falls, flails on the ground and then goes still, probably dead. It was a f*cking snuff film. Reported to Facebook. Same. F*cking. Generic. Response. Didn't violate their terms of service for graphic violence. What the actual f*ck. I know I could just delete my Facebook and I likely will, however, it has become one of the only ways that I and my kids are able to easily share and connect with their aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Never had a Facebook account, even when my kid was doing Farmville and wanted me to give her points or whatever, I refused.

Never had a Twitter account, either.

My life is immeasurably better without either of them and knowing I don't support them in any way makes me happy.

I have very few people I care about keeping up with, and they all know how to reach me by phone, email, or text. I don't need Facebook/Twitter for literally anything.

I would not expect that from an entity that allowed someone to live stream a mass shooting at a mosque in New Zealand uninterrupted.

I still have the account but I hardly do anything on it anymore. The political crap, plus their insistence that I download a separate app for Facebook messenger (after being on the main app since the very beginning) turned me off to the whole thing.

Almost like it was designed to disseminate garbage ...

Zuckerberg doesn't give a fark. That should be clear. Waiting for him to do anything is a waste of time. If you don't want to help him make money off of selling garbage, you quit Facebook. That's it.

Costing him "users" (ie, money) is all assholes like him understand.

Nah, it won't be "big." It'll see fewer users than Mastodon. Besides, it's only for RWNJs, white supremacists and tRumpers. I can't see it going mainstream.

The problem was, he was already mainstream as a "reality TV star" (and I use the term "star" loosely) and businessman (and not a very good one at that). The Cult Of Personality and a tragic indifference in 2016 voting got us where we are today.

you get out what you put in, which is as true w FB as it is with sex w your mom.

i've nearly quit the platform a ton of times in the past x decade but stick around. What i DID do, though, was delete the app from my phone. that helped bigly.

I guess the main thing is, *I* tell FB what i want to see, when. *IT* doesnt get to notify *ME* when i need to look at its ads.

I couldn't give 2 shiats about my extended family. All my friends in South America are on FB. Until there's something else to take is place, that's where I'll be.

If you haven't installed FB Purity yet, do it now. Add adblock plus to it, and  it's a lot better.

Facebook is a big place.  I like fishing; rock music and jazz; playing guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums; gardening; raising chickens; keeping bees; running an orchard; woodworking; protecting the environment; playing wargames; owning Shelties; trading plants with people in town; foraging for mushrooms, ramps, and wild herbs; building Arduino/Raspberry PI projects; cooking; permaculture landscaping; etc.  I stay in touch with like-minded people all over the world and politics is banned in every group I am in.  I experimented with the political groups; even ones that had supposed rules (e.g. failing to back up a statement with proof when challenged results in banishment), but the administrators were themselves the trolls and never banished anyone, despite their silence to my challenges.  The mindless, logic defying derp was too much and I felt dumber for having read some of it:  like arguing evolution with Dr. Banjo.

The bottom line is that Zuckerberg is a POS, but Facebook has value to me.

Facebook makes it really hard to delete your profile. Pretty much the only way to do it so manually delete every single post and photo you've made.

I've found this really helps - it's an add-on for Firefox that does all the mouse work for you. It will go through your history and manually delete everything for you.

I use it each year to make sure I only have 1 year of history. Facebook has its uses for me (I have a lot of friends internationally), but I want to make sure it has as little info on me as possible.

It was Hillary in a Landslide convincing people not to vote + Putin's trolls.

Leave James Comey alone, clearly that man's goal has always been to make everyone equally angry at him.
