That'll be great in 2022 when we "might" be able to inhabit an arena again.

Pioneer Square North would be more accurate.

I'd prefer Scrubbing Bubbles Arena.

Thank you, richest man in the world Jeff Bezos -- man so unfathomably wealthy he explained he was starting his own personal space program because he couldn't think of any other ways to spend his rapidly expanding infinite cash pile built on a company that will individually package and ship a stick of deodorant 800 miles overnight -- for letting us know we should probably do something about climate change.

Will those who refuse to acknowledge its existence be derided as Climate Pledge deniers?

Yes, because they're going to call the hockey team the Supersonics.  Have you seen how fast those guys go?

Arena will use reclaimed rainwater in the ice system to create the greenest ice in the NHL.

Green ice? That'll look even worse than Boise State's football field.

Also, the fark does Seattle need to "reclaim" rainwater? Surely they'd get all they need and then some just by leaving a fingernail-sized leak open in the roof...

So is this a new arena or just the rebranding of the existing Key Arena?

The only thing left of Key Arena is the roof.

They kept the roof and are remodeling everything under it.

Here is a photo I took last winter.  They have the historic roof (1963 Worlds Fair) intact but jacked up while they dig out and expand downward.  It's a massive undertaking.

Because using tonnes of steel and concrete for building an unnecessary arena is really great for the climate.

The tone deafness on this is overwhelming.
