...oh, and the companies are pissed if you even inquire or suggest that they cleanup their sh*t.

The Branch Dildonians were just a speck on this, and this Administration has done jack and squat to even look at the raid on natural resources, and is AS offended if you ask questions as the companies themselves.

They are following the law, which says that the companies don't need to report the amount they are mining or pay any royalties.  The guy that is complaining is a Congressman.  You know what Congress can do?  It can change the law!

...well, it could, if the Senate wasn't controlled by a turtle...

It's not just the Bundys that want a handout from the government.

We know this all too well here in Arizona. One of their favorite activities is mining groundwater. They'd love to mine the hell out of the Grand Canyon.

Sovereign wealth fund. All resources should be going in to a fund that pays dividends to all Americans. Companies can be paid for the work of extraction but we as citizens own the proceeds.

Part of the reason for congresscritters to publicly complain about this stuff is that it isn't well known to the public, therefore there isn't much pressure to address it. Making it more visible can put more pressure on other congresscritters to get involved in addressing the problem. So, this congresscritter is doing their job.

But the house can still make a big stink about it, and the first, most important thing to make a stink about is how much money they're making off of public resources.

Aquapope: But that's good soshulisms, because it's for private companies (which are people, my friend).

Corporations are people, human beings aren't unless their net worth exceeds $1,000,000 and if you question the system or status quo the police will be sent to your home to break in and murder you.

Ain't capitalism grand?

Human beings ARE people from -9 months to birth, after which they're 'resources', like gold, silver and copper.

Their plates are already pretty full. We're going to need a whole lot more energized and engaged elected officials to clean up all of our problems.

Which would be awesome to see.

Wow.
In BC, Canada the red tape to keep my gold mine active is a constant hassle.  The gov't is on me for every little thing all the time. I can't move a piece of moss without filing paperwork.

It involves federal land, so that makes it nashunal soshulisms.

That's the best kind... Someone should form a political party around it. Imagine all the great things it could accomplish for the fatherland.
