I like the part about people moving unnaturally fast. They're only that fast because they have the wrong framerate. When Peter Jackson restored the BBC WWI footage they had to manually choose framerates for every single clip. Even multiple framerates if they thought it changed while filming. Framerate was based on how excited the cameraman was.

This. TL;DR: stop trying to frame smoothing happen.

Also CSI is bogus magic. AI result is approximation.

Far better use of technology to "faithfully" restore old photos and movies (even if you have to invent a little something between frames, based on the surrounding frames), than to use the technology to create clips of political figure A saying absolutely ANYTHING, or reinventing history.

Am I ad-blocking too hard or is the Bill Cody video not available for viewing at TFA ?

Im using Brave browser and I couldn't get rid of the damned thing. I'd hit the X and it would bring up the search function for the website and my keyboard. Getting out of that would take me to the top of the article and the video would reappear.

Goddamn annoying on mobile.

I normally use Firefox with Adblock Plus and Privacy Badger with everything tied down and shuttered.  As a result, sometimes I miss things that were worth seeing.  So after seeing your post I fired up a wide-open Chrome browser... and it wasn't worth it.

Not only was the article infested with full motion and blinky ads but the on-topic AI remastered video was a disjointed mess of distracting captions and cut-scenes between at least 3 different "restored" videos...

the subject video was like an annoying, flashy ad itself.  Bad techy artist, bad.
