True colors shining through.  I see your true colors, that's why I loathe you...

The workers, Carlos Gabriel and Jessica Naro, said they both received the notices last week from Tesla's human resources department citing their apparent failure to show up and the company's inability to reach them. The workers provided evidence of their continuing correspondence with managers. They believe they received the notifications for speaking up about their concerns with working conditions at the plant.

Never trust Corporations. They lie, cheat and steal and then get mad at you for asking for a 3% raise, decent health care options and paid time off. Just wait til they roll back the 8 hour work day, 5 day work week and paid holidays.

I used to think that Elon could either be Iron Man, or a Bond villain.

In recent years he has clearly chosen his path.

I haven't seen an 8-hour day in a long time. Not since I was given a pager.

Bith Set Me Up: "If you look carefully at this article, you may notice I've drawn some subtle parallels to Donald Trump in several dozen places. Musk and Trump do not share the exact same vision of the future, and don't have the same ideology. But they are absolutely coming from the same toxic 'I'm a billionaire and no one has the right to question me' mindset, and are exploiting many of the same flaws in the system to get ahead.

[...]

This isn't about choosing between Musk's version of the future and Trump's. This is about choosing between a world in which we actually hold powerful people accountable for their behavior, and one in which we are all just picking which billionaire's personality cult we want to mindlessly join."

I can't find it, but I've read a quote from Fredrick Douglass. I think it was him. In it he says that slaves would sit among other slaves of other owners and brag about how much wealth they had or how good their owners were to the slaves. They'd get pretty worked up about it.

Those who are oppressed still do this. Those who support Musk or Gates or Jobs or Blankfien or Carnagie or Rockefeller are doing what those slaves did.

this is just the same pattern of humans over and over, elon is merely a cookie cutter a hole in a long line of typical predictable cookie cutter a holes.

Elon Musk Person at the top in control of the money pile, promised Tesla employees everyone else that helps make that money pile that they could stay home rather than risk getting covid-19, some believed him. would be treated both fairly and humanely.
And then it's all just lip service bs that never actually happens

There's this idea that the super-rich are just like us and know exactly what it's like to walk a mile in our shoes.

Naw. He's unique in that, like Trump, he's a malignant narcissist. A-holes are a dime a dozen. A-holes can change. Elon was, is, and will be one until he dies. He does not have the capacity for empathy and he'll burn it all down over insignificant slights.

you're getting nitpicky over terms here.

here is the one term we can use that says all that and then some

humans.

Anything he is, anything trump is, is just an example of what any human on earth has the capacity to also be.

Step one to being one of those is to imagine you could not be.

But that's backwards from the truth. truth would be, all the poors would also know what the most personal value gain might be too, and that too  is what they would purse if given the opportunity.

My own xp is that the only real distinction between the real rich and real poor, is delivery of attitude.

How they snob on you for not being what they are, is more subtly and couched or more crude and obvious, but they do both snob on anyone not belonging to their constituency. You ain't rich enough/hardship life enough to be worthy of my respect.

They both demand to be "serviced" highly in restaurants and hotels, while not being particularly good tippers either. Again just a matter of if they look down their nose at you more or shake their fist more, when they do not get what they expect from the help.

Yeah for me, humans all of em, just say humans and you said it all. good or bad it's in the one word and it means all of that pie chart's potential all at once both terrible and graceful. Both selfish and selfless, it's all in there in all of us waiting to see what parts will be encouraged and grown, and what parts will be discouraged and kept in check.

I gotta disagree. I think most people possess the ability to empathize, learn and change. But not all of us can do the empathy part. Dude just doesn't have the capacity for it and I don't think it's possible he could get it for any price.

People who don't feel empathy are generally classified as sociopahtic or psychopathic.

As i said, i find all humans share in the same capacity to be good or evil.
The real determination on that by my account is their cultural indoctrinate growing up.

And no doubt more than a few generations of Americans were raised to praise the profit margin, and those that take home a lion's share of them, above all other considerations.

When squeezing good profits out of the workers gives someone the apparent credentials to run the govt of the workers...

Only a culture can explain how it is we uphold the good we see on one hand but ignore the evil the other hand perpetrated to get it there.

We pretend somoen that pays to have their name on a building, so as to be perosnally and permanently honored for their act, is a philanthropist.

So yeah any human can be anything that any human can be. mostly de[pends on what their culture indoctrinates them to allow themselves to do.
Sure we encourage acts of generosity and kindness, but we also encourage acts of selfishness and lavish waste. rather than condemn those acts and frown on those that are seen behaving that way, we turn a blind eye to it and praise them for false philanthropy.
