Sure, but with a $900 million grievance about to be filed on the eve of the expiration of the current CBA.  I mean, other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

The virus didn't evaporate. In fact, it just got a solid foothold. This really is still wave one. But hey, time to open it all back up and just let Darwin cull the herd. Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see how that works out for him.

Going to be fun to see a two-batter, three-out inning.

I'm impressed you have the attention span to watch an entire hour of baseball.

They will be done within a week. This is a bad decision that will only cost players their health.

Nobody wins here.

Tigers v Mariners in the ALCS, and it goes to seven games.

Bet on it.

So, somebody could go 39-21 and win the World Series.  Pinch me.

I think the Rockies' 4 1/2 million attendance record is probably safe this year.

A 4-2 ratio in terms of baseball is a really good team (something like a 100+ game winner over the course of a regular season).

Do these guys forget how to play and lose all level of experience during the off season? A few links maybe but they won't look like tee ball teams.

Honestly, I'll be impressed if they make it through training camp without shutting down again due to an outbreak.

it is, and that's why I estimated high, because even at that it's only 39 wins. This will be 75% of a full basketball or hockey season. But what I might find interesting is that some players can get super hot over a two-month span and we may see some strange streaks or records that would ordinarily not mean as much over 162 games, when those numbers can average out.

I'm a Dodgers fan, we won in a strike-shortened season in 1981. It just felt weird. Cincinnati had a legitimate beef that year.

Also not crazy about interleague games at the expense of league games. I get it, travel etc., but we get Seattle and Oakland and not St. Louis and Philadelphia.

I'm not really complaining too much, I'm glad it's back, I've just had a lot of beer and I need to adjust to this. It may all fall apart before it starts, anyway.

60 games is also 375% of a NFL regular season. Crazy, isn't it?  Baseball is fluky as fark.  They need 162 games because there really isn't much difference between the top teams and the bottom ones.  This season, if it actually occurs, will be like one expanded playoffs, so hot teams will benefit.  As a Doyers fan myself, I'm looking forward to it since we have one year of Betts and one rested Kershaw, but the same demons exist once the actual playoffs start - baseball is fluky.  Way too much luck involved.

Are they doing the DH in the NL this year and starting the 10th inning with a man on base?

Yeah it's a good thing that the camps are in states that are doing so well fighting the virus!

Oh, it's happening, all right.  But no one involved (owners, players, etc.) cares because lots of money is involved.  Even those most at risk (the players, I would assume) don't care because they want to get paid.  If the players unilaterally didn't want to play at all, the union probably would have taken a hardball stance against opening until there was a treatment or vaccine.  But they do want to get paid.

If I were a Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, or any of the players sitting on a mountain of cash, I'd retire right now rather than risk contracting COVID.  Even if I was a player who seems to be on a Hall of Fame trajectory, like Trout.

And they're just plowing forward.

Unreal. I like summertime baseball but I think the fans will understand a one season pause given the circumstances. They're going to start and have to stop again, there's no point to any of this.

Back with games just in time to be completely overshadowed by the start of NFL training camps. Way to seize the moment, MLB!

Switch to using tennis balls.  Let's see some dingers!

That would probably be less dingers, not more. They might start off faster, but they're much less dense than baseballs, so drag is going to hit them much harder.

It would be fun to test, though.
