Years ago, I worked at a school that had a very young student that had so many life-threatening food allergies that the child had to eat alone at a one person table away from other kids. This kid was allergic to both cow and goat's milk and all dairy; eggs; wheat; soy; peanuts, tree nuts, and more. One of the few things the kid could eat was turkey.

For over a decade, our family has generally eaten one fish or seafood meal per week, three vegetarian meals per week, and three meals with some kind of meat. We had tried and liked new Beyond Meat and Impossible Burger products before the pandemic triggered craziness in the grocery store.

So, now we're comfortable looking at someone else and saying "No, you take the last package of that meat." Since we've never purchased more than three packages of meat per week before, we certainly don't need to buy more than that when stores seem to have recurring meat shortages. I'd much rather leave plenty of meat for someone who really needs it like the little student who lived on such a severely restricted medically prescribed diet.

Meat-bearing animals (in the US diet, at least) are nominally herbivores, so all meat is plant-based.  Right?

We'd just be happy if they had plant-based coffee.

They serve meat? Do they mix it into those milkshakes they try to pass off as coffee?
