Henry Winkler is looking very similar to Grizzled Bob Weir these days

For some reason I thought Winkler was a Repub.

Maybe I'm just lumping him in with Chachi.

He played a Limbaugh type on a short-lived Fox sitcom.

Between Children's Hospital and Barry Henry Winkler has impressed the hell out of me in the last 10 years or so.

But where does Potsie stand on all this?

Am I the only one who HATES the trend of those "videos" that are just captions over slideshows of still images, reducing the already moronic story to walk-in refrigerator temperature IQ levels?

Those things come with an intellectual opportunity cost.

As in, if you can't already read the written version in less time than it takes to watch the "video," then watching the "video" makes you even stupider in return for your investment of time than if you skipped TFA entirely.

/unless you're already a moran

Dude, I didn't even notice there were videos in the link. Some of us are smart enough just to read the damn thing and move on.

Not really taking a stand, more sitting on it

Chachi rebelled from Fonzie's biker liberalism. He illegally changed his name and became a US Attorney Bob Loblaw (R).

I was about 8 years old when Happy Days and The Fonz became the big thing.  I was a bit dismayed when I saw Henry Winkler on the cover a teen celebrity magazine declaring his dislike and fear of motorcycles.  8 year old me wasn't fond of separating the actor from the character.

I remember my dad calling BS on the Fonz.  This was at the beginning of the series, pre-leather jacket.  "There's no way a high school dropout, riding a motorcycle, would be hanging out with those kids..."   And even pre-teen me knew that he was right....

I read a "Bananas/Dynamite" interview he did in which, learning his acting skills, you have to know your Dostoevsky.

THAT is a hell of a name drop for a teen magazine.

He also said that, even though he's Jewish, if he had to play Hitler, he would do so.

It's hard to tell today's world how much of a cultural impact the Fonz had, but after the episode where he got his library card, there was a big surge in people wanting to get them and take out books.

Also, they wrote an episode where the Fonz cried while visiting a comatose Richie in the hospital, just to say it's okay for big tough guys (and the rest of us) to cry.

I read that same interview, in was in Dynamite Magazine in 1976, and the Hitler reference stuck out for me, too.

Ha, ha! You're as old as I am!
