Some stories get better the more often they're told. They evolve. Future elements:

Rappelling from the stage
Enemy sniper fire
Carrying some "helpless" female soldier through the flames ("You could see my biceps")
Charging through an armed crowd of antifa
Flying the helicopter because the Marine forgot how

Somewhere in the dark recesses of his tiny reptilian syphilis-lesioned brain, he's beginning to realize that the lies he's told himself aren't matching the reality he's created for himself.  Not having a full arena for his triumphant return is gnawing at his guts.  All the Adderall in his drawer can't hold back the terror that's beginning to build.  If he loses the tax cases before the supreme court, and the extent of his true worthlessness becomes public, he's going to snap.

Trump: "People come up to me, they say, 'How do you take it?'"
Emo Philips: "People come up to me and say 'Emo, do people really come up to you?'"

One of the two makes his living playing a buffoon. The other is the President of the USA, and does it naturally.

I wonder how many Republican congress critters are meeting with their campaign chairs wondering if Trump is going to drag them down with him? There has to be fear rippling through the party. So many of them have chained themselves to his band wagon - and now it appears that he's losing this election far worse than anyone thought. And they won't be able to count on any help from the Russians this time. A few hundred Russian trolls aren't going to be able to match a billion pissed off, tech savvy teens.

I tuned in to the rally very much fearing I would see throngs of people there to support Twittler. It is hard to express my relief at seeing the 1/2 empty stadium, the overflow area completely empty, and various news channels commenting on the failure instead of broadcasting his drivel.

In this, the darkest timeline, I never thought I would feel "hope" again. But I tell you my fellow condemned souls, I felt it. Hope has been beaten, but it still exists.

I watched the build up and the rally itself. As my gf was in the news for over 20 years, we usually have the remote dance between channels and another device streaming another cable channel. We kept Fox News up for a long time because the anchor (pre Trump) was flatly lying about the crowd size while at the same time showing a live shot of the 2/3rds empty arena. The gaslighting was amazing to behold.

Trump did his Greatest Hits, which more racism than is usual and seemed rested and ready to get into it. There was no energy and he ultimately failed to feed off of it. The camera focus on him showed people behind him getting up and leaving and coming back and leaving ... like they were at a sporting event during the TV timeouts or half time or between innings or whatever. In the past, they didn't leave their seats and the energy could be felt as a viewer.

Trump set up another trap for the media to fall into. He was getting free air time for his rally. Kudos to CNN and MSNBC for not airing his yapping live, but the multiple talking heads yapping were annoying to see and were kept on mute. I dislike how they decided not to air his most racist remarks- people need to see what he is saying and what it means. Instead of saying 'we won't cover the dog whistle comments' they should air them and then explain what they mean. Explain the history of them. They should be teaching rather than condemning. Teaching enables the viewers to find their own conclusion.

Anyways, the media walked into his trap and spent all day on the event. The most beautiful thing was the lack of Trump supporters. The media and the White House over hyped the whole thing and I want to give a shout out to Trump supporters who stayed home and stayed safe. Good on you. You helped make Trump's trap a f*cking joke and we people of these United States really do appreciate it.

I'm also glad it was small. We were beginning regretting not driving 14 hours to protest the event. Now, I don't regret it. It wasn't needed. A ray of hope is the result of that whole thing.

CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News had plugged the event as if it were the Pro Bowl.

And no one watches that either.

The most optimistic estimates put the BOK Arena at two-thirds full.

Well, that's a dumb estimate. Even before the actual numbers were released, I pegged it at 1/3 full. I was high by 200 people. That estimate has to have been a Trump friendly network.

This is well-said. As someone who's felt beaten down a lot over the course of this frustratingly invincible presidency, this felt like a brief spark of sanity and hope for us. I hope it continues!

the protest was something to behold. Good organizers/leaders defusing situations (young black females in particular) and the people of Greenwood played it perfect. Covered up their murals and memorials so they couldn't be used as photo ops. And once trump left and the cops wanted a fight, they got the protesters to head to black wall street where there were speakers, djs, and water.

Tpd had started pepper balls and tear gas on a peaceful crowd and everyone was ready for things to go sideways becauae there was a very large multiagency police presence, boogaloo jackasses, and the cowboys motorcycle club was there in red shirts brandishing shotguns.

But as the protesters made it back to greenwood the community was there blasting music and having a party.

The cops and trumpers stayed the fark away. It was awesome and peaceful crowd going all the way back to osu tulsa and the vernon church.

How small was the glass he was bragging about? Keep in mind, these are his tiny hands holding it. Looks like maybe an 8-oz. glass, about 3/4 full. He actually bragged about being able to hold 6 oz of water in a glass while supporting it with his pinkie underneath,, and he drank an ounce of it, tops. And then, of course, he threw it away so as not to spend 30 seconds trying to set it down while his pinkie was underneath it.

So he threw the glass away because he didn't think he could put it down properly? The only part of that I doubt is his ability to think that far ahead. I figured he was pissed and wanted to let loose with something.

Sort of.

I was annoyed that he seemed to think that the viewers of MSNBC WANTED to see the rally.

Most of us are nauseated by the sound emanating from the frothing slug. We cannot listen to its "voice" at all. We don't want to hear it. We don't want to see the sluglike form gesticulating and swiveling about in front of its brain-washed cult. MSNBC gave their viewers exactly what we wanted.

For someone who seems to dislike the slug, the writer doesn't seem to understand that.

I understand what you are saying and for the most part, I agree.

However, the bolded part.

I don't think we want people who, after being taught and enabled, conclude that they really enjoy racism.

The "conclusion" part should be curated, contextualized, and the correct conclusion praised.

Because there is only ONE correct conclusion to come to regarding racism: it's wrong.

No other opinion/conclusion need be entertained.

So the Trump Campaign email I just got is pretty hilarious:

Did you watch President Trump's MAGA Rally on Saturday night?

This was his FIRST Rally in over 3 months and over 10.1 MILLION viewers tuned in to watch - ABSOLUTELY HISTORIC.

Despite failed efforts from radical protestors trying to BLOCK supporters from getting into the arena, President Trump loved being back with the American People. We showed them that THE SILENT MAJORITY IS STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE and, together, we will win FOUR MORE YEARS!

The President will never let the Do Nothing Democrats' LIES bring him down. He doesn't care what THEY think, he only cares what YOU think. And now he wants to know what Patriots from across the Nation thought about this EPIC Rally.

"Epic"? Really? Maybe about as "epic" as a wet fart in a hurricane, but that's about it.

Yeah, having watched the scene a bunch of times telling to catch the screencaps, I'm really not sure how premeditated the throw was. He finishes the "sip," brings the glass up to show it off, and tosses it almost in a single motion, taking just a second or two. I commented in the other thread that he didn't chance putting the glass down and spilling it, and it's true, but I now think that was more a convenient size effect of posturing and trying to look like he was too cool for the issue or whatever.

But taking three screenshots hardly makes me a forensic psychokinesthesiologist, so I dunno.

Thank you for this authentic update/anecdote from the Tulsa protests. I totally feel the historic tension that you've described. Good job.

I am really loving that the real protests have been so well organized and disciplined that some of the authorities are really revealing themselves for who they are - the Thin Blue Line cover/narrative isn't gettin' it done. People are seeing the dissonance.

Again. Thank you.

So, way back when I was young, my family went on a vacation in Europe. One night in France, we turned on the hotel's TV and found ourselves halfway through Air Force One, dubbed in French, without English subtitles. Now, we all speak a little French, but only if the other person speaks slowly and emotionlessly while restricting their vocabulary.

We followed the plot of AF1 perfectly anyway. The plot's so simple, you don't need language.

Fun movie, actually. Made a point of watching it from the top in English when we got home, both to catch the first half and to see if we'd missed anything in the second half. We hadn't, but it was fun the second time around, too.

I wish I could have gone to the protests. But I'm, ironically, down for the count pending the results of a COVID-19 test I have scheduled for this afternoon.

Nadie_AZ: thehobbes: Nadie_AZ: I'm also glad it was small. We were beginning regretting not driving 14 hours to protest the event. Now, I don't regret it. It wasn't needed. A ray of hope is the result of that whole thing

the protest was something to behold.

I am so glad that Trump held a rally, and Greenwood's response was simply to show up and mildly protest, and then just throw a better party than Trump could ever hope to a couple blocks away.  Very fitting.

I'm not particularly keen on my childhood town, but I am proud of Tulsa generally today.  Not its mayor, not its PD, but the people.  I was sure there was no way Saturday night ended without bloodshed.  Thanks to all the protestors for doing it right.  And yes, also thank you to all the Trumpers that showed up for a rally and then went home without starting shiat.  First Amendment well-observed.

Diogenes: Deliciously acrid piece.

That aside, it seems the thrall is wearing off.

I thought it was pretty good until the end, then it appeared as if the author was actually a TrumpHumper, so now I'm not sure.

Does Trump even know what the raised fist represents. He's about as far away from the Black Power Salute as you can be. I know,I know, it was used before Black Power , but I think it comes out of the Wobblies or some such.

Well shoot. I hope it comes up true negative.
