Didn't somebody already mention the theory that Americans are getting into Canada by pretending to be on their way to Alaska? We obviously are going to need two Beautiful walls, about 9,000-10,000 kilometers (or even miles) long and staffed by Mexicans.

Good thing Mexico has agreed to send us more Mexican farm workers despite the Covid deaths. Maybe we should put in an order for 10,000,000 Mexicans to guard our borders, after the Elections are over, of course, and they are not needed to write in Hillary Clinton.

Trump dollars. You can only spend them at Trump Land. They're like money that nobody takes anywhere, even in Trump Land stores and rides. Only "fun". You know, like the "Disney Money" they sell you at Disney World and Disney Land. They don't even take it in the "Park", although you might be able to negotiate with hookers.

Under current rules, Americans may come through Canada to get home or get to work in Alaska, but they must travel along a direct path.
When I drove the ALCAN in the 1990s, it was the exact opposite of a direct path, consisting entirely of turns to the left or right. Perusing Wikipedia, I see there has been a considerable amount of improvement done since then, but I am sure there are still sections of the winding-in-and-winding-out that long-time travelers will remember.

Remember when no one gave a shiat about covid-19 until Rudy Gobert got sick?  And only when it was staring you right in the face did ANYONE begin to even take action here.

Spreading his hands all over the mics and stuff.  I think in general we really don't give a shiat.

So this really should come as no surprise.

It's just never a threat until we just don't know where this threat came from.  And then it's not a threat anymore while it's still a threat.

Yeah, that's such cherry picked bullshiat.  I don't think us Metis or first nstions were quite allowed to live in peace, but thanks for setting the precident.

The existence of Manitoba proves this 'right' never existed.  It's clearly enforced as a privilege based on the remote fly in reservations.  And the extreme inequality in who gets what and how.

Not quite that simple. USD doesn't move directly in concert with American economic fortunes. It's more complicated than that, as USD is the world's "reserve currency." So, when the global economy takes a downturn - and, because the USA is such a big chunk of the world's economy, that means the USA - companies and people "sell off" their risk assets. And, foreign currency is considered "risky" versus holding the world's standard reserve currency.

So, often what you'll see is that (paradoxically) that as the US economy sinks, the currency actually increases in value vis a vis other global currencies, because what is bad for the US economy is bad for the global economy. Same goes when the global economy is perceived to be doing well - the USD goes back down versus foreign currencies.

Just check out that March spike!
Fark user imageView Full Size

Of course, versus a specific currency you'll see swings related to an extreme political situation in that area (see the UK's sinking fortunes thanks to Brexit) but generally the USD has as much or more to do with global economics than the comparison country's specific situation.

You do, however, have meatpacking plants, and - just like in America - they don't like admitting that they are superspreading hot spots for the epidemic. Took three weeks to disclose.

And you should be noticing from America's experience that rural states and counties are more vulnerable to Covid-19 than cities are.

As I mentioned in a thread a few days ago, Gaylord is a goddam moron who doesn't know a goddam thing about Alberta.  As someone that lives in Banff, it is far to the left of most of the rest of Canada, despite what Gaylord might think   How about we start calling Ontario 'Klantario'?   This happened in Toronto:  https://twitter.com/howshehustles/status/1274174964405501952

Never been into mountaineering, have you? The log books at the top of nearly every summit that I've been to is full of German, Austrian, Swiss, and to a lesser extent norther Italian hikers. Now if you wanted to say that slovenly crass American prototourists never leave the boardwalk areas, then yes I would agree, by getting a few hundred feet off the beaten path you've left 98% of the crowds behind. If you avoid the top 5 trails in a given area you've left another probably 80% behind. Even in places like the White Mountains in NH that are a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts it's not at all difficult to find a trail where you might pass by a few people on a half day hike.

I hike, climb and mountaineer all the time.  And while there are exceptions, the vast, vast majority of foreign tourists never leave the beaten path.

We get 4 to 6 million tourists a year.  if there are a couple of people signing a logbook at the top of a mountain, its still an extreme outlier.
