But the real question is will Puffy emerge from his hiding place to tell me to rock the vote this year?

I've been listening to a lot more Public Enemy and RATM lately. Good to see the guys were still ready to march.

I have generally never liked rap much, there was some KRS 1 I liked and Method Man when they were doing electronica in the late 90's, but I like this song, and not just because I 100% agree with the sentiments.

I can actually make out the majority of the words in this song, especially the awesome chorus, because WOW do I feel those words.

Flavor Flav added: "Public Enemy tells it like it is. It's time for him to GO."

Last 2 lines of TFA:

Meanwhile, Chuck D recently revealed that Flavor Flav's recent "sacking" from Public Enemy was in fact an elaborate hoax to help promote a new album from his Enemy Radio project.

"We takin' April Fools," Chuck said. "We takin' it over. It's April Flav Chuck Day."

Man, I can't decide if I'd rather hear Lincoln Project use the chorus in an ad, or Biden use it, perhaps without the lyrics, as walk-in music.

Both.  Both is good.

batlock666: Still on topic after 30 years:

It is heartbreaking, frustrating, infuriating, nauseating, soul-crushing how relevant not just that is, but stuff from the 60s... and even further back.  FFS:  Come on.  We suck.  We are _still_, and maybe always will be, as an insightful activist once pointed out 50+ years ago, "a society that will crush people, and then penalize them for not being able to stand up under the weight."

It's very Wu inspired. Premier worked with the RZA back in the day so you can hear the influences.

For something more instrumental, Boards of Canada made a song that sounds vaguely like this:

I mean, the main repeating note progression is definitely a sample... (I'm only good enough at the whole "recognize music" thing to hit "wait, I kinda recognize that" but not good enough to go, "oh, yeah, that's the first three notes from the chorus of..." which is not frustrating at ~all~)... Biden, at least, could use the original, and even deny the tie in if he really wanted to....

Ok, YouTube is a cesspool, but it's also brilliant sometimes.  Not my style of music generally, but I wanted to listen to this one again, as it was firmly stuck in my head... and I poked through the suggestions of stuff I ordinarily don't see.

This is farkin' *brilliant*.  I really liked Killer Mike on Colbert and elsewhere when I've seen him, but never chased down his music... but, man, that was _my_ loss.

Eh, no. I don't like Mob movies/shows unless you're talking "8 Heads In A Duffel Bag" types. I'm just not into dramas and the same goes for War movies. I simply cannot get any enjoyment out of movies or shows that the main theme is the worst of human behavior on parade, this includes and really started out with Soap Operas. I did start out watching The Sopranos but checked out sometime in the second season when it became more heavy-handed and the humor was almost completely purged. Movies are for entertainment and enjoyment.

I do like a good Action/Adventure and even some Horror/Monster movies and shows. I have no interest in a lunatic slaughtering people with an axe/chainsaw but like a good Werewolf or Vampire or other critter. I watched both the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Friday the 13th" movies but none of the sequels because they weren't my thing. I love "The Silence of the Lambs" but for the battle of the minds/wills between Clarice and Dr. Lector, the almost puzzle-like quality of their conversations. Not to mention the amazing acting of the three main characters. My favorite x-mas movie is "Die Hard". I guess I'm just weird.
