"A small number of tickets -- probably between 1,000 and 2,000 -- will be set aside for sale to the general public for each game, Manzo says."

Lions or not, that's just freakin wrong

Wrong tag. Should be 'Sad' in that it only goes to show how miserable life in Detroit for these folks as throngs of them flock to see a worthless football team on a weekly basis.

Anything to forget reality...

You mean Detroit still has a football team?

I think this time around, the Christians actually stand a good chance.

Detroit needs a hobby. Can anyone teach them needlepoint?
2002-01-31 02:52:29 PM
I really can't blame them...how often do you get the opportunity to watch a team go 0-16?
2002-01-31 02:53:52 PM
that title was hard, to read because, of the commas.

Three words:

New Comiskey Park.
2002-01-31 03:02:19 PM
best explanation (from the article):

"southeast Michigan is simply a football-crazy place. Some weekends 80,000 people have watched the Lions on Sunday -- a day after 100,000 hit Ann Arbor for a University of Michigan game and 75,000 more packed East Lansing for Michigan State."

That, plus next season is gonna be way better. Of course the lions sucked this year, but think about how it happened: most games were decided by less than 8 points, and the Lions had zillions of injuries. Plus their defense was just plain horrible.

So, next season, no more injuries (or at least start with a clean slate again...), and more of those 1-score deficits will go the other way. Not saying they'll be a championship team by any means, but I expect 'em to break even, anyhow. I'd go to a couple games, but season tix... no thanks.

So what's all this about a Detroit Fark Party? If so, Agent Q will organize and buy snax, and I'll bring the heavy drugs, and goat for sacrifice.
(Alice will also dance for our visual pleasure)

Wow. Two Detroit links in two days.

Chanle51: you're right. Often, when asked what there is to do in Detroit, I will reply "go to Toronto" or "go to Chicago." I just realized that my track record isn't very good. The same was true when attending school in Rolla, MO When asked what they do on weekends, most students say "leave."

(man, I hope I got all my tags right)

Okay, who wrote CHA on the moon?
2002-01-31 03:21:55 PM
Garibaldi now that was a hell of a show!

damn tags!! Agent I got your screwy tag, shaky hands

Hagbard: Yea, sorta ticks me off that it's gone.

Ba Dum Chee....Ticks off

What did you think of the Live Action one? I dug it as much as the animated
2002-01-31 03:34:15 PM
Theotherrob: oh wait, I thought you were talking about the Chargers. Last season 1-15, close games/injuries. This season new quarter back, new running back, nothing could stop them...for the first three games. Then guess wat happened, close games/injuries. Nine of their losses came in the last 3 minutes when they were ahead. I'm just saying, don't get your hopes up.

Why are all the teams named after big-cats so sucky?

(Lions, Bengals, Jaguars, Panthers)

Hardest, Headline, To, Read, Ev-er.
2002-01-31 03:39:37 PM
Hagbard: Sadly, I never got the opportunity to watch it. Heard it was really good, tho'.
2002-01-31 03:51:02 PM
The team wins 2 games and they are increasing tickets prices by $11!?!?! You're right "Skid", between 1000 to 2000, that's all the tickets that will be available to the general public? Professional sports are just that, games only profesionals can afford to go watch. I used to live in Michigan, but now live in Arizona where the Diamondbacks still have $6 and $1 tickets available to buy.

Joke :
What do you call Devil's Night in Detroit?

A good start.
2002-01-31 04:59:53 PM
Same here I moved to Arizona from Michigan about 4 years ago. I'll go to a game when I go back home just to see the new stadium. Even though the Lions will still suck.
The Diamondback tickets are nice, but I like the spring training games around here. Nothing like laying out in the sun and drinking beer in march/april while my old friends are freezing there asses off.

Lay of Detroit ok? The Lions may suck, but they're our team, and one day the law of averages will catch up with them and they'll bring home the Super Bowl!
