Headline should be "Have you tried turning it off and on again?".

How much to make that happen until Jan 2021?

This complete cessation of cortical EEG activity - a phenomenon that the team says has never previously been described - lasted for up to several minutes in the test subjects, before their brain activity roused once more.

Have they tested Buddhist monks yet ?

My DMT experience was kinda like this except all the pixelly color stuff was massive gears and cogs which were also twisting vines. It's like the stuff you see when you rub your eyes too hard, but much brighter, clearer, and given 3d form and it lasts 10 or 15 minutes.

Never done Ketamine...seems scary as fark. There are some Satanic rituals where youre supposed to meditate yourself into a near death state. Normally that's way out of my league but if I had K and a week to myself I might do some experiments.

I'm so glad someone stepped up to the XKCD plate.

Also, very cool article, exploration of weird, near-brain-death mental states.

Ketamine inhalers look like fun but only if you are the type of person to be satisfied with microdosing rather that diving into the womb of mother K-hole.

This makes a lot of sense as to why ketamine is apparently fairly effective at sustained repression of severe depression. Its like a hard reboot to the brain.

Meh, it's not nearly what they make it out to be in my experience, and I spent a year taking it every day.  It feels a lot like light acid mixed in with opiates to tell you the truth.  Yes, somewhat disorienting, but we're not talking immediately channel Jim Morrison territory.  Well, I guess maybe if you're not used to that kind of thing, but seriously it's not THAT huge of a brainfark.  I functioned on it, albeit a bit goofily.  Yeah, that's a word now ;p

(Was as a treatment for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, for some of the same reasons outlined in the article.  Was pretty effective, but excessive goofiness and a growing intolerance for it led to stopping.  It was effective, but trying to function that wasted all the time wasn't working.  Add that to it making me vastly nauseated after a while and no, it wasn't a valid long term pain med.  At least not in those doses.)

/it does tend to disconnect your internal censor though
//ended up not thinking about some of the shiat coming out of my mouth
///no, not racist shiat/whatever, more like "Maybe you do need to lose some weight if you want to keep that shir... oh shiat what did I just... aww crap sigh."

Not gonna lie, even though it's been many years, any dissociative like ketamine is right up my alley !

Never tried ketamine, but I tried MXE and ended up wandering around the house naked with no recollection of doing that.  I prefer DXM because at least I know my body won't get up and move around when I'm not in it.
