I guess asking them to note what she said that got her in trouble is too much to expect.

Don't think the trumpkin accelerationists aren't watching this shiat with glee. This is going to be that fat hipster looking choad's first big crusade.

CYBER LAW AND ORDER!

Ressa and Rappler's Reynaldo Santos were both sentenced to between six months and up to six years over the charges. Whether or not they will go to prison is unclear as the court may allow them to post bail.

Does bail work differently in the Philippines or is Deadline - Hollywood Entertainment Breaking News not as serious and reliable a news source as its name implies?

You can tell it was cyber libel because his keyboard was typing.

Just so we're clear, dictators are gonna pull more of this shiat and kill off journalists and their attempts to shine light onto inconvenient stories.

And Trump gives them permission to by musing aloud about doing the same.  "We're gonna open up libel laws".

Was the 'Scary' tag on a bender somewhere? This is terrifying, because it's exactly what Trump fantasizes about doing while rubbing his Fox and Friendsmushroom woody.

This makes me very sad. She's from my home town. We went to high school together. She's always been an extraordinary person.

The article they sentenced her for was a 7-year-old piece that existed before the "cyber libel" law was written.

Sorry.  I'm in bed and fairly drunky.  But what happens if someone "removes" Duterte?

For Farkers who didnt pay attention in civics class, this case is notable for its use of an "ex post facto" law designed to target Ressa and her journalists.

If you read Article I of the U.S Constitution, these are explicitly addressed there, and ex post facto laws and bills of attainder are prohibited in the U.S.

So if you live in the U.S., you can thank the drafters of our constitution for protecting us from this tyranny.

Yes.  This is the damage that Trump does, emboldening fascists elsewhere while accomplishing nothing in the way of muzzling journalists here .

To be clear, your defense of that quotation is not that he didn't say it but that he failed to follow through on it?

To be clear, you ass, I am not defending Trump, just pointing out how he continues to do damage while failing to accomplish his intended goal, which is itself indefensible.
