Cave Dwellers only gets an honorable mention?

I'd add at least Pod People, Fire Women from Outer Space, and Space Mutiny.

Sidehackers, also known as "the reason we watch all of the movie before picking them for the show now".

2020-06-12 11:59:54 AM
They left out one of my personal favorites - 'The Giant Gila Monster'.  Unfortunately, it's hard to come by that one now.

The riffing seemed perfectly tuned in that one - especially the tribute to Ray Kellog ("Leg UP!"), and the bit where, for no reason, the Sheriff idly opens a door and peeks in, as Servo adds an impeccably timed "Mrargh!" monster growl,

With Six You Get Spittle: Space Mutiny

Especially this one. Space Mutiny is the perfect first episode of MST3k. That or Pumaman, I guess.

Haha yes Time of the Apes is my personal favorite

I'm partial to This Island Earth for an entry point.  It's an actually decent movie and it has really strong riffing throughout it.

Solid list, but on the Russo-Finnish front I'd swap in The Day the Earth Froze over Jack Frost. And my personal fave, Warrior of the Lost World, deserved at least on honorable mention.

I'm willing to bet most Mysties will agree that The Final Sacrifice has to be somewhere on your personal top ten list.

My youngest loved Pumaman.  Every once in a while he jumps around the house yelling "Pumaman!"

Some random episode I like:

Pod People, Cave Dwellers, Warrior of the Lost World, Alien from LA, City Limits.

I would have though one of the Hercules movies would have made it.    They should do a list of best Shorts as well.

2020-06-12 1:23:12 PM
Sidehackers, right at the top of the list.

2020-06-12 1:23:32 PM
Pod People, Mitchell, Red Zone Cuba, The Beginning of the End, Future War, Eegah!, Puma Man, I Accuse My Parents, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, and The Sound of Music

I think Manos is such a horrible movie that people at first thought that the jokes were funnier. Maybe they are, but nobody can really enjoy that bad of a movie.

"DING.... DONG" gets me every time. That and her hubcap armor. "Thong! Fish is ready."

A fave from Pod People: "She's zestfully dead!"

My two favorite lines from Pod People: 'That sounds like Laura falling to her death!' followed rapidly by 'QUICK! Move her head and neck around a lot!'

For me it's Spring Fever and Robot Rumpus.

For Mr B Natural, I prefer the Rifftrax version since it has the entire film.

Well one out of four is better than nothing.

Here's the thing. I enjoy MST3K. I love the premise, the writing, everything. But the entire time it was on Comedy Central (I was in college of them in the real world) I only ever watched two full episodes. The commercial breaks were just too distracting, and I never made a routine of making that appointment to catch it for an evening. I usually caught it randomly on Saturday afternoons with too much else to do.

I know- it's time for me to start catching up on YouTube.

Definitely Pod People.  "There's a sale on flannel!"  And of course, "Huzzah!"

The MST3K and RiffTrax PlutoTV channels have been wonderful to have during lockdown.  The MST3K channel showing "Fugitive Alien 2," "Mitchell," "Pumaman," and "The Chicken of Tomorrow" was a damn good way to spend my COVID-isolated birthday a few weeks ago.

Hmm, as someone who has watched and still watches way more MST3K than is good for the psyche, I take issue with a lot of those choices.  But then I actually like Invasion of the Neptune Men so I may already be insane.  I guess my real point is that not everybody is Steve.  Oh, and watch out for snakes!
