Cool, he can get together with that Garrison Trumpsucker and they can jerk each other raw over the fantasy of dragging society back to 1953 or 1853 whatever dumbass era they've fixated on.

"We need MORE law and order, not less!"

Dude, they're teargassing and beating your coworkers. How much more policing do you want? Armed guards outside every private residence?

Sign of a limited mind is believing that the solution to a problem is more of the problem. Bet this guy wants every schoolteacher strapped, too.

And the schools. For our safety.

The usual arraignment is a publisher owns the body, but hires an editorial staff to run the publication. The owner is involved in staffing and technology of the print, but they have a more local editor to run what shows up on the paper.

There's a rather cool video about the last days of lineotype at the NYTimes out on YouTube. They had perfected manual typesetting, which fed into phlanges that made the offsets. Then the computers took over in the 1980s, making a new process

First of all, crime is down nationwide, especially violent crime. Secondly, the police do not give one rat's ass if your purse was stolen. They aren't going to get there in time even if someone calls. I suppose if one were standing a few feet away they might intervene. They will barely take a police report. Thirdly, how much should we spend in tax dollars to get your purse back? How about we just replace your purse and contents instead of deploying a swat team and a round the clock team of detectives and sending out an Amber alert? It's definitely scary and you'll be frightened and traumatized and angry and that really, really sucks. Really.

What if, instead of paying for an officer on every corner that costs eleventy billion dollars and they mostly just stand around and occasionally maybe get a purse back or even, yes, it happens, prevent or solve a violent crime we use that money to fund schools and education programs and job training programs and income support for low income and housing and drug treatment and alcohol treatment and mental health treatment (and research and institutions) and supportive services for a half an eleventy billion dollars.

Probably needed to put a period in that TL;DR above. Sorry about that.

Then lets focus the police on actual violent criminals and the criminals who steal millions through white collar crime instead.

Are you suggesting that the government reimburse people for theft instead of preventing or investigating it?

Petty theft basically already only gets investigated if you have a bored police department.

I don't have another place to ask this question, so here's the off-topic threadjack:  Fark's going to start blocking access to the site if we're running Adblockers?

I run an adblocker because the malware that can come through the current advertising structure is often ahead of current anti-virus software.  So the adblocker becomes the only defense against a cryptolocking attack.

Could Fark at least reassure me that I'm not going to deal with attacks through their ads, or this more of a 'visit our site, take the risks, because our Farkers aren't worth it?' situation?

A racist and a lousy artist. They could replace him for cheap with someone from one of the local highschools, and improve the quality on multiple levels.

If I'm going to get my head bashed at a protest whether I break the law or not, I might as well earn it. *shakes spraypaint can*

The social contract is a two-way street.
