It started going downhill when they opened up to everyone without a .edu e-mail address. It was great when it was just a collection of college kids friending people they partied and/or slept with.

Dear Facebook employees,

Delete/leak what you can and GTFO, and kick Zuckerberg repeatedly in the balls on the way out

F*ck Facebook

Yes.

And really, Twitter isn't much better.  They're both the end product of tech bros who range between farking clueless and willfully ignorant about the sociological ramifications of their "innovations".

"Move fast and break things," but somebody has to deal with the broken pieces, and there's too many to avoid stepping on.

Friend of mine just posted that Facebook had just flagged a meme of her's, from five years ago, that defended Obama (and GW Bush, for that matter) from detractors comparing him (them) to Hitler.

Cockroaches only thrive in darkness. The default on Twitter is that everything is broadcast and anyone can see it. Facebook is chock full of little semi-secret clubhouses.

Facebook is almost purpose built to amplify nutjobs and conspiracy theorists.

Yeah... this is starting to look like having an active Facebook account at the end of this is going to have about the same impact on your reputation as having an active 8chan account.

That's some pretty impressive mismanagement, there.  Though I guess it's become fairly clear over the last five or ten years that Zuckerberg doesn't actually have any business or management skills whatsoever, and only succeeded by way of an incredible stroke of lottery-level luck which was in turn only sustained by the way that our system is artificially designed to give wealthy companies more free money regardless of what they're doing or whether they're doing it well.

Still, writing on the wall in the form of previous questionable financial decisions or not... having the police attempting a fascist insurrection that you can see by looking out of your office window, having an incredibly easy out in the form of promising you oppose racist hate groups and then not actually doing anything about it like usual, and instead going out of your way to support the side that's not only obviously morally in the wrong, but almost inevitably going to become the losing side in any future where the nation remains intact enough for your company to even exist next year?  That's some Joker with the mountain of cash shiat, there.

Facebook made it exponentially easier for them to find out other people hold their batshiat crazy beliefs.  Forty years ago you had to know someone who already subscribed to the physical newsletter to find the wider world of your kooks.  Twenty years ago you had to know how to find the specific message forum.  Now you just read your cousin's updates.

Boycotting Facebook will do little good. If a service is free, you're not the customer ― you're the product. This was true for "free" over-the-air broadcast TV, and it remains true for any "free" service (including Fark). Boycotting any of them has very little impact.

What you need to do is boycott their customers and get them to boycott FB or whatever. Every time you see a paid ad on Facebook, contact the advertiser and let them know that they just lost your business for a year, and you'll add an additional year for each additional time you see an ad of theirs on Facebook. And follow through, no matter how much you like the product or service being advertised.

Old people are Facebook and Trump's main demographic now. It's simple overlap and demographic targeting.

It's like a sequel to "Impossible Creatures", but every time you create one it turns out like the half pig, half Mr Garrison. Then you're all like "Why did I waste $50 on this stupid game, again?"

They can't. Facebook has a dual class voting structure. Zuckerbot and his fellow assholes control the voting shares.

Perhaps not, entirely. But FB has shown him where his people are, and it has validated and affirmed his point of view.

I de-platformed from FB about 2 years ago. It was a cesspool of bots and trolls, in my opinion. And hearing Z's defence of his policies made me realize that he just doesn't care - it's just about the money.
