My oldest is only five and she's already wistfully remembering the places and people she misses. We had to tell her we're likely not trick or treating this year, and christmas will be toned down. It's farking heartbreaking.

You are an asshole, I am picturing you breaking that news to her in the same conversation you had to have with her about not going back to school

It helps not to measure your life against some imagined ideal, or worse yet, television.   Be sure to not judge others based on those standards, either.  Just make the best of what you get dealt, the best you know how.

When I was young, not going back to school would have been regarded as the best thing ever.

You have to consider the possibility that God doesn't like you, he never wanted you. In all probability, He hates you. This is not the worst thing that can happen...
We don't need him. Fark damnation. Fark redemption. We are God's unwanted children? So be it.
