The 49ers are just one of 32 teams that didn't sign Kaepernick.

Super Chronic: The 49ers are just one of 32 teams that didn't sign Kaepernick.

They could have kept him, but they told him to get gone, or he be gone. And he still ended up staying gone, because all 32 owners decided they feared Trump more than they feared supporting Kaepernick (which demonstrates the level of courage of the NFL owners, none of who rose up to the levels of Branch Rickey and told the other owners and Trump to fark off).

To be fair to the Niners, he was done in SF no matter what. His contract was too expensive not to cut and they weren't going to cut him (or have him opt out before they could cut him) and then re-sign him for pennies on the dollar.

So I wouldn't really single them out here. But they are the ones must connected to him, so they will get the attention.

Pretty sure Denver offered him a deal and he refused.  Not sure of all of the details of what all went down with Baltimore

People used to always post that he got an offer from Denver but never posted anything to back it up.

Let's not forget other things:
- He tried to get traded before he started kneeling, only two other teams showed any interest.
- Eric Reid and other players who knelt were re-signed.
- Declined to answer Seahawks questions on his future plans.
- Went to the ATM on his activism with Nike (who isn't exactly spotless in who they do business with).
- Didn't even vote in 2016.

Okay then, here you go.

Elway tried to trade for Kaepernick, but in order for the trade to happen, he was asked to take a pay cut.

Kaepernick declined.

FTFA: "Colin had his chance to be here. We offered him a contract, he didn't take it," Elway said.
(snip)
Elway was among the league executives to give a deposition, for which Kaepernick was present, earlier this year.
Elway said Thursday that in that deposition he spoke about the spring 2016 contract offer.
"I don't know if I'm legally able to say this, but he's had his chance to be here. He passed it," Elway said.

Elway was under oath in that deposition.

SF has the best reason of all 32 teams for not having him on the their team:  They were f*cking stupid and gave him a $126 million dollar contract AND HE OPTED OUT OF IT.

/they would have cut him eventually

People need to give up on the "HE OPTED OUT" thing.

He was told he would be released if he didn't opt out.

So he didn't opt out, even though he did?  The 49ers wouldn't have cut him eventually like we now both just said?  The 49ers didn't give him a contract that he could never have lived up to?  What are we arguing about here?

I've worked 30 years in my profession. My CV is equal to or rises above those of my age, experience and accomplishments.
I suddenly cannot get a job. I wonder why.
John Elway, my childhood sports hero, says he tried to hire me.
He never says at what price and no one asked him if he was told to say this.
F*ck John Elway. F*ck The Drive. F*ck his car dealerships and everything that makes sports fans think their hometown heroes give a f*ck about them.
F*ck you naive Boston assholes. Politically, Irishally, and Sportically.

Hey Kaep,

We hear you're a pretty good player. But you seem to be a distressed property right now with all this controversy business.

How about we pay you less than you're worth and all is forgiven? Deal?

As someone who loathes Boston sports teams, doesn't like Horsey Face and the way he's ran the Donks, etc....

His kneeling only started after he was replaced as the starter.  Ending his tenure in SF had nothing to do with taking a knee.

And Kaepernick was offered a contract with Denver, he didn't take it because he wanted a big paycheck despite not being good enough to be a starter.

With the exception of Blake Bortles as the Jacksonville starter signing a new deal in 2018, everybody else on that list made well south of Kaepernick's $10M/year asking price.
