And as soon as they've had their photo-op and left the scene, cops in riot gear will show up and shoot anything that moves.

No subby, the Fox commentators won't be confused, they'll just call the cops names, maybe accuse them of being "fat left actors staging a false flag operation". Pretty standard for hthese assholes.

I bet it's like homophobes, though; chances are good that eventually they realize they actually like it and appreciate the tender embrace of a big burly crowd. That they're even doing it at all is a good farking first step in this country.

I thought fox was blaming the riots on Antifa, and saying the protesters were the good people. And supporting police marching with protestors wherever they can.  And calling for national guard and military police against Antifa.

That's the story I was hearing all over the place.

I've definitely seen a fark-load of officers marching along side protesters.  Then again I'm fairly close to Flint and the region is having 'no more white silence' rallies to support George and BLM marches, too.

Well yeah.
Women being able to vote isn't full equality.
We still haven't passed the equal Rights amendment.
And, just because slavery is gone, doesn't mean we don't have to pay for Jim crow.
And, just because there was Obama, it doesn't mean we are all now judging each other solely on the context of our character.

The cops do what the mayors order them to do. You know, like when the mayor of Portland ordered them to stand by last year as Antifa burned downtown.

I would not trust this at all.

It also protects peaceful protesters from the looters and rioters.  Having the officers right there aMing the protesters.  They can see it and stop it real fast.  Protesters will usually help stop It, too.

There are cops marching at every protest. Sometimes they are undercover to identify troublemakers, and sometimes they are undercover to be the troublemakers. Facial recognition should be a two-way street, IMHO.

I see a few farkers have forgotten all about Ferguson, where the press stayed until midnight, then were told to go home.   They retired to their St Louis hotel rooms as the police forces moved in and cracked skulls.   Drones folmed a lot of the action that the press was "missing".

Maybe what we need is more cops shooting at reporters.   Remind them what they are there for and what their job is.

Absolutely.  I remember right after the "I have a dream" speech MLK got really hammered and called for the lynching of any uppity negro with a criminal record.  He had a mean streak, that one.

There probably should be law enforcement marching with them as well as among them.

Let's just hope the cops don't attack the undercover cops again.

Fifth officer charged in beatdown of undercover cop at protest

Just an isolated incident; a few bad apples; nothing to see here.

I read an encouraging article out of Valparaiso, IN. yesterday, trying to learn why a major retailer was closed--I'm guessing on orders from corporate with an abundance of caution. (Though places farther north are having some real difficulties with protests, and on top of COVID-19.) There was a protest of about 20 calm women that thought the town should be reminded of its history with "sundown law" which required blacks to be out of town by dark. The protest was quiet and calm save for some antagonists that got in the demonstrators' faces arguing trying to stir them up. The demonstrators said the police were good to them, had their backs against the antagonists. Were asking if they needed anything, if they could get them anything. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...

That's how undercover works. You don't want the baddies to know you're undercover so you get beat up just like the rest of them.
The good news?
1) yes cops are infiltrators/ agitators.
2) now they know what police brutality looks like.

Oh you're right, happened in Flint too.  No?  The couple of protests in Flint were completely peaceful, including the one Chris Swanson was part of.  The city just already looked like this before the protests.

You know what has proven to work the best, caused little to no chaos or riots or violence, and doesn't cost any money?

Showing solidarity with the protestors, listening to them, and not treating them like the enemy.

Cities that have done this have had little violence and not slipped into chaos giving opportunities for less savory types to loot.

Cities that have gone full police state have descended into chaos and lost control of their city other than the current corner they are practicing their goosestep on.

I can't prove you wrong, but the cops here in New Orleans have shown solidarity and superb crowd control (crowds are kinda their specialty).

There's been no violence...yet. Am proud of my town as it's usually among the headlines for violence, cop or citizen.

The police chief did warn of "agitators," which are words I figured everyone left behind in the 60s. But it's a possibility when you live in some podunk town elsewhere in Louisiana. Bit so far, the ciry residents and the police have both been good. Protesting is a sacred right and as I said, even the NOPD is helping out. Remember, not every cop sucks.

lack of warmth: get real: George Floyd is not the person Martin Luther King would want to represent

What the hell is that suppose to mean?

Just an excuse to take pressure off Chauvin.

Floyd's autopsy showed he was using meth and opioids, and he'd had some other run-ins with the law. I don't know if the thing about forging a check was true, but the reason he got pinned was because he tried to fight with them.

None of that warranted lethal force. Floyd wasn't an angel, but he was murdered. If someone's trying to attack police officers or anyone else with a knife or gun--regardless of their skin color--responding with lethal force is totally appropriate. If someone tries to scuffle with LEOs, they've got plenty of non-lethal tools: Pain-compliance holds; pepper gas; Taser. Hell, there were five officers there--they didn't really need any tools besides handcuffs anyway.

If you're a cop facing a combative person, you do whatever is appropriate to gain control of the situation. BUT--once the combative person is under control, that person's safety is now your responsibility.

A lot of people are going to argue about Floyd's record and why someone called the cops in the first place, but every second of that cell footage is another nail in Chauvin's coffin.
