(YouTube)   Camden NJ, known for previously always ranking #1 as the murder capital of the U.S. held a George Floyd protest and it ended with zero violence. Why? Because the police chief and other officers protested with them in full dress uniform   (youtube.com) divider line

Egoy3k: Human field of view is wider than it is tall assuming the person has two functioning eyes and is using both of them. As such horizontal video is far more pleasing to the human eye.

And thus vertical video is an atrocity and human rights violation.

And I thought the whiners were tiresome crybabies moaning about inconsequential trivia. My eyes are opened now.

El Dudereno: JerseyTim: The cops are instigating the violence over and over. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes through unnecessary tactics.

Absolutely. It's almost as if the worst possible way to respond to protests against police brutality is with police brutality.

I view it as the opposite, black people know they are in a position of power over white cops  They know they have the upper hand every single time there is a police interaction these days. If you watch every single interaction these days with a conscientious cop, they hesitate way more and think a lot more before they act.

There was a video the other day of a black woman clocking a white police officer in the face... twice.. and you could see the look of helplessness on his face about what to do.  Then a black police officer came over and defended him by pretty much knocking her out.  If the white officer had hit her, it would be in the national news, even though she clocked him twice.  "Hey look... that white cop leveled that poor black lady.. he should have de-escalated it instead of hitting her!"

The above is what most of my cop friends are concerned about all the time.. some are begging to be paired up with a black cop in these situations.. but there aren't enough black cops to go around.

99.99% of cops are good, its that 0.01% that are bad and the police unions protects them.. just like the teachers union protects bad teachers, etc.etc..etc.

ITT: racist assholes with nothing to offer except snide remarks about a city they've never been to, but feel comfortable ragging on because it's full of black people.

The cops I'm seeing on camera plowing through crowds of protestors and shooting into them indiscriminately with "less than lethal" weapons don't seem to be part of that 99.9%.

I wonder who gave those orders, and why.  Most aren't interested in initiating violence since they have families at home.

Considering 25-40% of police officers, (depending on the force surveyed) are domestic abusers, I'm reading this statement in the same tone as someone in a restaurant who says "We don't need to order a dessert for my birthday.... we have cake at home!"

big pig peaches: Animatronik: This is great but not all of the looters were protesters, so clearly there are also some other factors involved.

If a bunch of white antifa kids show up in Camden, they're going to get a well deserved beat down.

Rolls eyes...do you ever get tires of swallowing the bullshiat.   It is entirely possible it was a bunch of white kids, I know that happened in Portland, Oregon.  But they weren't antifa.   Trump and his minions told you they were this nebulous unidentifiable entity were the bd guys and you swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

That seems like a bit of an overreaction to me but you do you my dude.

If you prefer I can use the term "anarchist". Still the same people.

Snatch Bandergrip: Camden violent crime drastically reduced after police restructuring

Weird, huh

"Camden Police Department was disbanded, reimagined, and born again as the Camden County Police Department, with fewer officers, lower pay"

The Police Union can't be happy about that

No.   You are thinking of the Black Bloc and their ilk.   Not the same.   It would be like comparing the Tea Party to the Order.   I use those as you might be familiar with them.

Are they actually still called "peace officers"?
Police For Peace has a nice ring to it.
It would be great if they could actually do that.

Gyrfalcon: derpes_simplex: Good.  Now start a bonfire in the back of your armored assault vehicle and throw your batons, your "non lethal" munition launchers, your combat fatigues, and your tazers in there.  Then you get your pat on the back and a body camera on the front.

Theres just no pleasing some people

A friend of mine was killed by reckless cops.  Despite my white privilege, this crap isn't merely theoretical to me.  So yeah, taking a knee doesn't impress me unless it's followed up with more meaningful actions apart from virtue signaling for the cameras.

Eravior: Marcos P: This text is now purple: The only thing in Camden left to loot is the Aquarium, and it's both closed and guarded by hippos.

They have a sloth there. It's pretty awesome.

That's messed up. Can sloths even swim?

Stand with the protestors.
Beat the looters.
Everyone's happy.
