The antifa movement - a network of loosely organized radical groups who use direct action to fight the far-right and fascism

Not at all surprising.

Considering that "Antifa" is about as legit as an organized "Deep State" yeah.

Natural opposition to fascism and authoritarian tendencies IS occurring. We're Americans, and oddly enough, most of us were raised with the idea and expectations of our rights being protected by the State--some of us, not so much, because America has a spotty track record of delivering on its promises--and when the State takes a turn to do EXACTLY the sorts of things that Right Wing groups have accused the government of when it turned its eye to investigating their activities, only against the general populous and without reason, under the guise of nationalism uber alles...then yeah, people are going to push back.

Rejecting fascism is a default state in America. Not a "movement." Unite the Right and other fascist groups that have come under the umbrella of the Alt-Right--itself a marketing term by a very vocal fascist in order to give cover for White Power Motherf*ckers because Nazi and fascists are not overly popular terms in the US--ARE movements, and not good ones. Movements are exactly that, they are organized and directed against the nominative and normal state. Trying to call the default state a "movement" is just f*cking marketing.

White supremacists have suddenly become the villain behind every Scooby Doo mask. I miss the janitors. At least when they got caught they didn't whine about "those antifa kids and their n****r dog."

Ummm.... no, it's been happening for about a week.

Of course they don't. Because they're about as real as subby's Canadian girlfriend.

Many times there are people who go to protests to cause trouble just so the effort is blamed for those actions.
So no, not surprised at all.

The only acceptable way to oppose fascists is to wait for them to begin ethnic cleansing and plunge the entire world into a hellish conflict?

Y'know, if it turns out that the Trumpian DoJ slams down on the alt-reich for masquerading as Antifa, I'm going to be pleasantly amused.

"You asshats were advocating violence and acting on it!"
"But it was a JOOOOKE! We're not really Antifa!"
"But this arrest warrant isn't a joke. Fifteen people died in that building. Two firemen and a police officer."

Wonder if this will be in the potus' very brief Morning Brief?

So if Trump threatens, as planned, to revoke section 230 Twitter and Facebook would actually have to address this problem. Donnie, your face needs spiting.

It's not systemic injustice triggering these riots, it's actually white supremacists?  I guess the system that benefits me must be working as intended then.  Thanks for lying to me. I really want to believe lies and you've made that possible.

The villains behind the masks in scooby doo were usually grumpy middle aged white males more concerned about property than human life. The imaginary part is "Ooooh no Scooobs, it's a ghost!antifa!"

If you focus on the 2% of the people who aren't calling for justice for all people, you can ignore the 98% of people calling for justice.  It's pretty neat, you can get right back to your remote desktop and everything.

The only ones surprised by it are the other Reich-wing assholes, who are, in fact, so "surprised" by it that it triggers an astounding ability to intentionally pretend it isn't happening in the face of overwhelming evidence.

I generally agree. And usually don't.

But there is a very real push by white supremacists to make antifa a thing. Fox and the government and their supporters (Hi Vlad!) need a smack down

Anyone blaming white supremacists and Russia are silencing legitimate grievances and are doing more harm than any white supremacist ever could.

If it's not painfully obvious that we're trying to make white supremacists the scapegoat so we can ignore the economic aspect of the protests, then 2020 hasn't fully erased your cultural programming yet.

Our racist police state is stepping on everyone's necks and everyone is tired of it.  Black people are especially tired of it cause they get the treatment for 9 minutes.  30 million people are out of work and all of our tax money that wasn't given directly to corporations was spent to militarize the police.  100,000 people are dead of a pandemic our leaders couldn't bother to pay attention to.  America has failed the majority of her citizens.

And in these threads, populated by the people who America hasn't failed, you guys are blaming white supremacists for the riots.  Cause for some reason it's easier than just admitting things aren't right.  I've seen it my whole life, a lot of people think that admitting that things are unjust somehow makes them guilty for the situation.  When it's the opposite.  Practically all you have to do to be innocent of contributing to the injustice is to admit that it exists.  Other people will do the heavy lifting of fixing it.

Cool.  I just wanted to make sure you were taking the broad view, instead of attempting to narrow the focus beyond recognition.  Not sure I agree with your overall point, but I accept it as valid, at least.
