If you can't make a dime making a vaccine, there's good money to me made in speculating that a drug can cure it. Just ask the President. I'm from Missouri, show me.

People like to make all kinds of jokes about common sense remedies. Everyone had a big laugh back in February when people suggested cocaine could help prevent infection. WELL I DON'T HAVE CORONA!

That reads like it was written by the former head cheerleader at my high school, and she can't believe it's been so long since we talked, and, she never told anyone, but, she kinda had a crush on me back then, and, now she's ready to help me change my life with these Essential Oils.

Maybe that vaccine he is working on with Hillary Clinton and Bill Gates is almost done and he is busy in the lab adding the microchips for world domination and defeating Trump.

Headline:
"Xanax, a common anxiety medication, might actually block rotavirus"

Far, far down at the end of the article:
"there's no proof that Xanax might improve the condition of COVID-19 patients or that it can prevent a severe outcome"

Not to split hairs, but blocking it and curing it are two different things

Fun fact: it's almost impossible to overdose (resulting in serious injury or death) on Xanax. About as possible as overdosing on Tylenol/Advil/etc.

/I know because reasons and so forth
//Xanax is really great if used to treat what it's supposed to treat

I wasn't suggesting he "OD" on the thing.

But you're wrong about Tylenol (acetaminophen).  The maximum recommended daily dose is 3 grams (about 9 regular strength tablets) in a day.   Acute toxicity occurs at 7.5g (23 tablets).

I cant take it.  I tried taking it for acute anxiety and it makes me angry and a bit homicidal. Really wish it didnt as everyone else says it's great.

My apologies for assuming what you meant, and good call on acetaminophen. I thought I may have been a little generous with that one.

I had something like Xanax (shorter acting) to get through my 2nd MRI. For the duration of the medication, I was one mellow fellow.

I sat, a solitary man,
In a crowded London shop,
An open book and empty cup
On the marble table-top.
While on the shop and street I gazed
My body of a sudden blazed;
And twenty minutes more or less
It seemed, so great my happiness,
That I was blessed and could bless.

Not quite this and a bit longer but you get the drift. A pharmaceutical soma that would have driven Aldous Huxley mad.

I take a psych medication daily that also has a bad reputation due to being abused by people who use it recreationally. It's annoying because, like Xanax and a lot of other medications, the one I take is also great at treating what it is supposed to treat. But mention it's name and people automatically assume you are an addict.

Most people would vomit up the pills before they got close to taking 23 in a close enough time span to each other to actually die.

Nope.    It happens and it only takes 15 of the extra strength ones.    I've seen people chug down entire bottles.   The only reason they puked is I gave them an ipecac chaser.    Acetominophen is one of the few we do that for.   If they OD on most other OTC stuff, it might eat a hole in their stomach but it won't be a risk of death and we let it go.

That said, there's no proof that Xanax might improve the condition of COVID-19 patients or that it can prevent a severe outcome.
