Lindsay and Mitch are farking scumbags.  They not only deserve to be roundly defeated in November, but they deserve to have disgusting things named after them for all eternity.

Like when you have an old piercing hole that you don't use anymore, but it fills up with pus occasionally, you have a Lindsay Graham, or when you barf so hard it comes shooting out your nose, you have just Mitch McConnelled.

I will be very disappointed if the Democrats don't stack the Court the first chance they get. Our country is at stake.

Of course. The GOP want the GOP in power forever. The Democrats want ... what is it they want again?

Nadie_AZ: Of course. The GOP want the GOP in power forever. The Democrats want ... what is it they want again?

Essentially the status quo, with maybe a little less institutionalized racism, sexism, and general bigotry.

Maybe, if it isn't too hard, to slightly improve things like healthcare.

There are two things Dems can do to counter

The more extreme would be to target all judges confirmed in last few years for IRS audits, on the basis that most will prove to be arrogant assoles who don't think they should pay taxes. Then impeach those who have broken the law, and encourage those who know they've cheated to resign before audit.

Less extreme would be to simply expand benches and add new judges to swamp the ideologues

That might possibly involve what I call socialism but can't actually define.

Investigate the Federalist Society for money laundering.

Expect lots of hollowpoint retirements if that comes to pass.

The rampant hypocrisy is a feature for Republicans.  They "fighting" for their supporters and it is Win Or Die with zero rules for them.

If we actually have an election, and if the (D)s get majorities, we damned well better see at least ten new Supreme Court justices.  Twelve or, hell, twenty would be even better, but I'll negotiate down to ten.

Just bring 'em all into the Senate at once, put a picture of Merrick Garland on one easel and t(R)aitorous scumbag Mitch McConnell on another, and have Senate Majority Leader Warren confirm them all with one voice vote.

(Hey, we have enough bad news going around... let a guy dream.)

2020-05-28 3:42:04 PM
I know if I were the senate majority leader for the dems come 2021, the first thing I would do is increase the size of the supreme court to 13 justices and say fark YOU to everyone who whines.

You need a two thirds Senate majority to remove a judge from office. Not happening.

Less extreme would be to simply expand benches and add new judges to swamp the ideologues

This could work, but the Democrats won't want to "look partisan."

Their supporters demand that of them. Liberals demand that Democrats fight with their hands tied behind their backs.

Article just yesterday about some tech billionaires using some of the same disinformation methods against Republicans that Republicans regularly use against Democrats. Sure enough, it featured a whiny worthless piece of liberal sh*t crying like a god damn baby about the "hypocrisy" of it.

What an asshole. You can't make this sh*t up.

If they get a supermajortiy in the Senate, they can just impeach and remove them.  They don't' need any reason at all.  Impeachable offenses are whatever the House decides, and if they decide "Appointed by President Sniveling Asshole and confirmed by Moscow Mitch" is impeachable, then it is.   And I'm OK with that.

But that ain't happening.

What is sad is that history has taught us that violence is the *only* response to fascism that works.

Which is why we will ignore it, and lose.

Democrats think "the process" will make everything work out in the end. But there's no guarantee of that, and fighting for "the process" means you don't actually fight for ideas.

Each one was a sweeping change in and of itself. And if you want a group of programs, the New Deal worked great (and was very progressive).

I would like to see them all have to defend this. Have someone lay out the sheer, wretched hypocrisy of their position, then make all of the Republicans individually justify it on the record.

Doesn't have to be binding, I just want to make them stand there and say "I'm in favor of different rules for Democrats than Republicans." Stop being so goddamn cowardly about your treachery.

I'd settle for just Turtle, since apparently he was the one who concocted the idea of not letting Obama appoint a judge. The rest of the GOP fell in line, sure but I'd like to hear his reasoning most of all. I'm sure it's a more socially acceptable version of "fark you, that's why".
