I think even the White House is aware that they can only go so far before the White House looks like Minneapolis did last night. People are very angry, and that anger does not only extend to trashy people who drive motorcycles around the White House lawn and do military cosplay. Unemployment in this country is very high. Nationwide riots will not bode well for the current leadership.

I'm not saying he will not continue to try dismantling every institution that he can, but even Trump knows that he can't steal the general election if the exit polls across the country are all saying Biden won and by large margins, and Putin knows what happened in Ukraine when they tried to pull that sh*t.

These past four years have been filled with examples of people saying "he can't do that" and then turning around and doing just that. We need to be more prepared for this behavior, especially with an election coming up that he is already trying to preemptively undermine and overturn.

Fine.  From now on when I call Dotard a farking racist rapist liar piece of shiat and accuse him of all kinds of things on Twitter, I will write "Parody" at the bottom of the post.

If this is even introduced at all, it will go to court, then to another court, then to SCOTUS.  By that time the election will be happening.

If SCOTUS upholds this bullshiat, Dotard will then try to muzzle the media.

The GOP will sit on their hands like the good farking traitors they are & Biden will win in a landslide.

If elections are postponed or altered in any fashion, then the scenario bdub77 writes about above will come to pass.

There are a LOT more sane people than there are the nutcases who proudly display the MAGAism.

Funny.  It took two months for Dotard to do anything about the pandemic, but Twitter adds a link to the truth to a couple of his lying tweets and he acts instantly.

I've been saying for years, but "Godwin's law", blah blah blah.

People were warned that Trump would behave like this and they didn't care.

I look at those people and say, " you allowed this to happen".

This is the thing that makes me feel stupid because I have no answers. How can a useless asshole like The Donald manage all those things subby mentioned? Yet he has and is. Charisma? This asshole? I think not. An uninformed, habitually non-thinking "base" is an ingredient, but even those are not all stupid people. How did Hitler do it? He, too, was an evil fruitcake, yet he would have ruled the world but for the enormous sacrifice and industrial power of the allies. Maybe it is just the uncanny ability to entrain the greediest and most feckless humans on Earth. Extortion and bribery? The next-biggest question is "Will the world recover?". I can't answer that, either.

Has an American president seen this much seething rage and plus an economic depression through his own malfeasance and incompetence?

The seeds for massive civil unrest have been sown. The corrupt toadies of the president are watering them. This is going to get worse before it gets better, I'm afraid.

Much worse.

Hitler was in the correct place at the correct time and in the correct position.

Shortly: Nobody liked the Weimar Republic. Hitler was popular because he wanted to Make Germany Great Again. The only person who was more popular was Von Hindenburg. The election was held and Hindenburg won, but Hitler was made Chancellor of Germany. Hindenburg died in 1934 and that opening was what let Hitler grab control.

Exactly.

If everyone inbetween his orders and the subject of those orders is complicit and jyst goes along with said orders, the laws which forbid such actions is just so much toilet paper. And putting your fingers in your ears, rocking back and forth and going "there are limits to his powers, there are limits to his powers" isn't gonna do very much at all to change the situation.

The short response to your point subby, is that Trump doesn't have the powers he claims, but Trump plus the AG, 53% of the Senate, and 5/9 of the Supreme Court does have the powers he claims.

But only for as long as they stay in power.

Well Germany went through the 1918 pandemic while being shiat on by the world from WW1.  After being destroyed and left for dead, the idea of invading said neighbor's and starving them to death to make way for your own farm land would be an eye for an eye.

Americans are just mad they can't do anything they want.  It really truly is pathetic in every regards.  I can actually see where Germany was committing suicide by war as a fark you to the world.  But for America?  Simple lazy greed.

Yes. How the fark is President Sniveling Asshole going to "shut down" Twatter? I imagine it has various locations (server farms). He doesn't know what the fark a server farm is, and he can't order anybody to go shut any of them down. In order to get the FBI or someone to do it, they have to have a valid reason, and "fact checked my twatting" isn't a valid, legal reason to shut down anything.

If they didn't commit a crime, he has no recourse here. Stop telling him (and his worshipers) that thanks to the Senate, he can do anything. He can't. He can't shut down a private business, he can't have Twatter's stupid CEO arrested, he can't do any of that shiat. I assume someone informed him of that.

Well i think this is it. i think with all this stuff happening at once, Pandemic, deaths, executive order on social media , race wars with police, etc he will get his revolution. He probably thinks he can call martial law after it happens too.
Right before the election, we are in for some dark and grim times. It's becoming inevitable.
How can a country survive like this when all our institutions are so severely impacted? We can't trust law, he doesn't want us to trust science, religion is completely hypocritical, even leadership is up for the highest bidder, and our vote is called into question.
I see how people conflate their "freedoms" with being able to make a choice to get everyone else sick because you won't wear a mask and I think, these same selfish people are the people who will vote for Trump because they can relate to him, they are selfish idiots.

I know that they are doing their very best to disenfranchise. I'm not saying they won't try. Hell they will probably try to do it even knowing how bad it looks. I'm just saying, the administration is already on thin ice and the wealthy who really do own this country do not want civil war or people indiscriminately rioting against them because it is ceding control.

Unemployment is high right now. That is never a good thing for government.

But you're completely right, they will try to steal the election. No question.

2020-05-28 12:08:42 PM
Democrats have just been pointing and gawking and saying "you can't do that, that's against the rules" while Trump gleefully breaks all the rules.

Pointing and saying "you can't do that" don't count as punishment or action or deterrent.

If you don't punish and deter the lawbreakers, you embolden and enable them.

It doesn't matter if Trump "can't" steal the election. He "can't" ignore subpoenas or profit from the office, either, but here we are.
