And?

The headline only says that doctors explain how to stay safe. It doesn't promise that the article has the doctors' explanation.

What strange times we live in, when "don't go to the gym" might be the healthiest advice

2020-05-27 12:00:32 PM
"The key is to not breathe while exercising."

Can somebody recap? I gotta be somewhere in 26 minutes.

I'll explain it with a picture:

Panting and heavy breathing?

We already had an article about sex hookups.

Outside of a crowded club, I can't think of a place that would be better at spreading a respiratory disease

I go to a Lifetime fitness.  I appreciate the staff for dealing with some of the nastiest patrons around.    There is no way in hell I'm returning to the gym before the threat of the virus is completely gone.

Might as well cancel your membership and order some equipment as it is going to be awhile.

Kelli Kennedy should not have a job if that counts as an article.

I don't see how going to gym right now is prudent when there is no vaccine available. Too risky.

That's how they started, but these days, you just need to cancel a month in advance.

They proactively suspended billing and prorated accounts based on the day of the month they shut down.  I get a nice discount through work and really do miss going there, but I'm making due with running and my Nintendo Switch Ring Fit Adventure.

I truly do not understand this mindset. You literally have been taking way more risk every day of your life by doing dozens of mundane things like eating food (choking to death odds are higher than coronavirus if you're under 60), swimming, riding a bike, driving a car, or even standing outside (odds of dying by a lightning strike are higher than dying from Covid-19 if you're under 40.)

It's one thing to be prudent and hygienic as possible. It's another to completely lose perspective and live in an irrational state of anxiety and fear, waiting for a vaccine which may never come.

They'd have to pay me to go there right now.  There's no amount of cleaning that would make me feel comfortable going to a gym.

Newsflash Mike from Titletown Fitness Green Bay:
It is easily possible to stay fit without the use of a gym.

Also your grammar is atrocious.

/Also literally saying "newsflash" is a total douche move

1.  I don't need to wait for a vaccine, I need to wait for the number of new cases to be so close to zero and the number of deaths to be zero so that I don't have to worry about dying or killing anybody.

2.  The United States had over 100,000 deaths in two months from this pandemic with many statewide lockdowns.  It is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. As restrictions ease, the death rate will increase.  Why this is political is beyond reason.  It used to be that objectivity was criticized as being too manly.  Maybe that's why so many protesters are out their with their big guns complaining about how not being able to go to the salon is a violation of their subjective assessment that they'll be fine even if 2,000,000 other Americans die.

That's not an apples-to-apples comparison. Eating food/driving, etc., is essential.
I don't have to go to the gym to exercise - I can run, do push ups, burpees, etc.
While I want to go to the gym, I don't want to expose myself unnecessarily to a virus that's easily communicable and doesn't have a cure.

And while dying is the worst case outcome from an infection, even survivors could have permanent organ damage.

That's too funny. People are realizing they don't need to go to an overpriced, over-hyped facility to stay fit. HHhhahaaahahaahaaa

Ride your bike.

Or, stay with me now, the poster realized how irrational going to a gym is. IRRATIONAL!

How to stay safe at the gym? Don't go to the gym, you moron. Not worth it.
Might as well go to your nearest hospital and smear your face and hands all over the nearest bed that a coronavirus victim just died in, making sure you get all the wet spots in the sheets.

3. The lockdowns would be shorter if General Woundwort wasn't constantly trying to Leroy Jenkins all over the place rubbing his grubby hands all over everything to prove "we don't have to cower in fear."

Choking isn't contagious though.

I'm not going to inadvertently spread my choking to a person who may not recover from choking as well as I would.

That's a very self centered viewpoint to have.

Haven't been to a gym in decades. The last time I had a membership was in Austin...I think it was Gold's or World Gym...maybe it was one and became the other.  Anyway when I'd walk in there in the evening the stench of bad breath would hit me like a punch in the face. You could tell the staff worked through the stenchening and got gradually used to it so they wouldn't bother to turn on the AC or open a window to air the place out.

I'm glad I don't go anymore, not because of the stink but because I hated that ritual of trying to motivate to go to the gym.

You don't need a gym. Just get a couple of kettlebells and a copy of Eat Bacon, Don't Jog.
