(Reuters)   In Brazil, Bolsanaro took the fight against CV-19 out of the hands of public health officials and gave it to his generals. And now that they're #2 in the world in cases? Bolsanaro's statesman-like response is: "So what? What do you want me to do?"   (reuters.com) divider line

Like the forest fires?

Oh, I see that's already been covered.

They say that Bolsonaro is the Trump of Brazil, but what if Trump is just the Bolsonaro of America?

The oft used "Brazilians die" to mean a huge number could end up being pretty accurate for once.

That response is legit, though: his psychosis stops him from admitting he's wrong and reversing course. What could you convince an antisocial narcissist to do or say that saves face entirely in this situation?

"The strategy of the Brazilian response to COVID-19 was not impaired at any point,"

correct, nothing has gotten in the way of them doing nothing

He and Trump are both hopeless. The possibly solvable problem is the brainwashed fools who vote antisocial narcissists into power, destroying their own countries.  Stop the brainwashing, and the madmen won't have the power to destroy their own societies.

I don't take any responsibility for similarity to other world leaders.

Who knew right wing conservatism was a completely bankrupt ideology? Who knew?!?

Jair Bolsanaro is a weaselly, prune faced farkstick. He's Brazil's version of Trump except he actually has military service to fall back on.

God help me, Jair Messiah Bolsonaro even sounds like a rejected character name from Idiocracy.

All fooling aside, this is what happens in countries where many if not most people have no trust in institutions that aren't the military---that, by the way, were piss-poor at running Brazil in their Seventies salad days too. They made a pig's ear of everything but murdering "communists," broadly defined as anybody to the left of the Germans who had come to stay after the war.

(Take Brazil's once-notorious inflation. It fell to civilians to stop inflation in the end.)

They're generals.  Their preferred methods are shooting and bombing.  Which technically stops the virus, but...

It's not bankrupt.  It's evil. It's about keeping a powerful and overly-wealthy small upper-class.  It's a way to try and implement feudalism within the confines of an ostensible democracy.

Current right wing conservatism isn't completely bankrupt? Pick a subject. Jesus? Abortion? Taxes? Guns? Healthcare? Socialism in general? The walking embodiment of the 7 Deadly Sins?

So when do we get to sit in stadiums and watch old people blow up?

Depending upon how those limbs are cooked, it could be delicious.

Bolsonaro and Trump are not alike. Don't make this mistake. They are entirely two different kinds of clown-faced idiotic nuts.

Populist governments are not well positioned to ask the public to give something up for the greater good, insofar as they gain power exactly because they offer an orgiastic release from the burdens of membership in a society.

/ Taxes? fark taxes! Regulations? You mean I can't build a 6000 square foot house next to my neighbor's bungalow? It's communism!
