I mean two things happened. He either was taking it to prevent it like an idiot and they convinced him to stop, or he got Covid and took it to "cure" himself and now he doesn't have it anymore. Either one is bad news for him.

Ideally I'd prefer he lived forever in torment and solitude, but if he's dead, he can't kill more people.

Trump doesn't know history, he doesn't realize that just because he was elected President, history will not view him fondly. He will go into the bin of failed Presidents. All his glory will die when the racist Evangelical
fraudsters die and, by their self-culling, they will die soon

Or he never took because we've been talking about the fact he says he's doing it rather than the shiatshow that got us to this point.

So he finished taking the drug that was originally supposed to lessen the impact of the virus to those already infected, but as a preventative measure?

Yeah bullshiat. I'm calling bullshiat on it. Either he's lying about taking it or lying about why.

The sugar pill he was taking isn't going to hurt him. Even if someone wrote 'cure' on the side of the bottle.

Or he was lying about taking it to try to increase demand for it among the common clay of the New West because someone he knows has a financial stake in it.

Or, he was never farking taking it, and simply promoting it because, regardless of how small a financial interest his defenders and enablers will tell you it is, he does in fact have a financial interest in HCQ/Sanofi.
Money, and never admitting that he's wrong, are two of the only things that matter to him, so I believe no financial interest is too small for him.
It's certainly not science-based or out of the goodness of his heart.

Fark, in the time it took me to thumb type that,  about a dozen other farkers said some version of the same thing.
But yes, this also illustrates a valuable lesson.
In politics, things are either binary, or they aren't.

Joe USer: The sugar pill he was taking isn't going to hurt him. Even if someone wrote 'cure' on the side of the bottle.

I think the point is, if he was actually taking it, then he's harming himself because his health state is not ready for taking hydrochloroquine. If he's lying about taking it, then he's in a position to harm himself because he has staff members all over White House who have tested positive for COVID19.

The best case would be that he is taking it and still catches COVID19 because it doesn't do jack to prevent the onset of COVID19, and he also get heart arrhythmia or whatever negative side effects are from taking it.

2020-05-25 4:07:14 PM
He didn't take it. He's flat-out lying to make himself look good and to "prove" He was right.

He's a farking liar.

2020-05-25 4:09:36 PM
I'm certain that he insisted his doctors give it to him, just to prove to people that they're wrong to criticize it--that's how people like him think.  First, they think that a large study can be disproven by a single counter-example, if the single counter-example is an in-group member. These are the kind of people who, when you say something like, "Studies show that playing Russian roulette is dangerous," respond with, "I have a brother-in-law who played it, and he's fine." Second, people like Trump will do anything to prove that they weren't wrong.

The only interesting question is whether his doctors actually gave him the stuff, or lied about what they were giving him. I think that, if they did give him HCQ, and he died, they'd be lacking the proverbial paddle.

Did he take it or didn't he? We will never know for sure.

I have seen the "true believer" argument, and Trump could be getting dotty in his old age, so he might have asked to take it and be given his way or a placebo to get him to calm down, and let him say the thing and promote his sponsor's drug. Sales are now up 2X, with lots of my rubes buying! He's got more than Alex Jones. Once you realize he is "playing" President on TV, and there is nothing else there, he becomes even more pathetic.

Everyone says makeup/vanity is the main reason he won't wear a mask. I think it makes the virus too real for him, and he starts to panic internally when he wears a mask.

Either it was a bald-faced lie (believable) OR a placebo (equally believable).  I cannot imagine a doctor actually risking HIMSELF'S life by giving him The Genuine Article....IMAGINE the consequences of THAT if he died.

Because they are needed for scientific studies (well, at least _actually_ scientific ones) it is  trivially easy to get a placebo indistinguishable from active drug.  Just saying.

There is actually a strange sort of logic to it, although obviously it has no real world evidence that it makes sense. The thought process that might be followed here is that the President takes HCQ+Zinc as a temporary prophylactic. Someone gets sick in the White House, he takes HCQ for a week, sick people are gone and everyone else tests negative (aka, virus not spreading), he stops taking HCQ. If this is what's going on, we can look forward to him getting back on it every time there's a positive test at the White House.
